Singing
Andy passed down a more… theatrical trait to his children. Andy/Erin
Disclaimer: I don't own anything on Broadway. I don't own the Office, I do own the little Bernards.
All of his offspring, Andy could proudly say, were named after characters in Broadway musicals and they all had a voice that could make them one. All of his offspring, they could rebut, pretty much hated their names. And Broadway musicals. And singing. But don't tell their dad that.
The firstborn was sixteen and basically the most unfortunately named Bernard. Amaryllis Sky was named after characters in 'The Music Man' and 'Guys and Dolls'. She didn't know which musical she hated more. Amaryllis was a soprano and in church choir, school choir, musical theatre club, and hated it all. Her hair was dark brown like her mothers, and it fell down to her shoulders in waves, framing her blue eyes and perfect nose. Her lips were Covergirl worthy, and her body could be in a Victoria's Secret fashion show. Amaryllis hated singing. Amaryllis wanted to be a model. But Andy refused to acknowledge it and kept his daughter under the happy roof of singing, whether she was happy or not.
Marshall, the only Bernard boy other than his father, had four names. Marshall Gold Andrew Bernard. He didn't mind, though, he liked his names alright. It was when his father introduced him to people, he called him 'Marshall Gold Andrew', making sure they knew where he got the third from. The others were from Oklahoma! and Fiddler on the Roof. Marshall was ten years old and an alto, and anytime he sang, his father would make sure to say, quite loudly, 'Here comes treble!'. That was what Marshall hated more than anything. He looked much like his older sister with dark brown hair and crystal blue eyes, but he inherited his dad's anger issues. So no one knew what he wanted to be other than a singer, due to the fact that he would start punching a pillow any time anyone asked him. Marshall couldn't stand the thought of his dad being unhappy, so he just kept singing.
Audrey Agnes Bernard hated her name more than both of her siblings combined. She was five years old and had a terrible lisp, so her name came out as 'Oddy Anes'. With her lisp, she couldn't sing or carry a tune worth anything. She resented, even in her Kindergarten age, the fact that she was named after A Little Shop of Horrors and Mame characters in a bout of cruel irony. She looked more like her dad than her siblings, too, with his light brown hair and brownish eyes, as well as her moderately chubby figure which (still five years of age) she already hated. More than anything, her name or her lisp or the irony behind her name, she hated the fact that she couldn't sing because that would make her father proud of her, and that was what she wanted most.
Andy might be oblivious to what his children actually wanted, but somehow, he made them all love him even more.
End Notes: Not my favorite… though I do like Amaryllis's name and Audrey's bitter resentment. J Review and tell me what you think please!
