Oliver ducked as the knife came flying towards him. Focus Noll. Control yourself. The anger burned through his veins like wildfire. How dare they? How dare they take him away from me! There's nothing wrong with me! The chairs next to the table creaked and groaned like old bones in the cold. Another knife came flying towards him, and slashed across his cheek before he could move. The pain simply added to the rage that fuelled the destruction. They never wanted me at all. They only wanted the perfect twin. One of the chairs levitated off the ground and threw itself at the wall, the splinters embedding themselves in his arms like wooden shrapnel. Eugene would understand, but they took him away from me. They were scared that I was going to hurt him. Sapphire blue eyes and a quicksilver smile flashed across the boy's vision, bringing his rampage to an abrupt halt.
"Eugene wouldn't want me to do this." The whisper cut through the sudden silence. Oliver could feel his power begging to be set loose like some convicted criminal; shaking the bars and rattling the cage. He refused to bow to its wishes, and imagined it behind a stone wall, like the castle that he had seen so often in this new country. Exhausted, Oliver fell to his knees, a single tear tracing a path down his cheek.
"I'm sorry, Eugene." He whispered to the empty room, to the dead silence. The room echoed with his apology; as empty sounding and hollow as his heart, the place where his brother had once filled.
