Percy's POV 7:40 am

BUM BUM BUM BUUUM DUN DUN DUN. I woke up to the Avengers theme blasting from my phone. I groaned. Usually my mom or Paul, my stepdad, woke me up before the alarm. I grabbed my phone prepared to hit snooze on the alarm. It was 7:40. Brief feelings of disbelief and doubt flashed through my mind before panic finally set in. While I hastily got ready, I started thinking of ways I could get to school on time. Its 8:02, and the first day of school assembly started at 8:00. The assembly usually lasted about half an hour so by the time I left our little apartment I would have about 15 to 20 minutes to get there. Because I had to ride the subway to school every day it usually took about 45 minutes to get to school. In other words: I'm screwed. I ran into the one small bathroom that my mom, Paul and I shared. I brushed my teeth as fast as I could and ran out the front door.

There were three old ladies sitting across from me on the subway. They were knitting what looked like giant socks. They kept shooting mean glares at me as if I were going to jump up and steal their yarn. They probably just thought I looked like trouble. I had messy black hair, which was even messier today due to the fact that I didn't have time to comb it, and green eyes, but apparently something about me said "I like stealing yarn from old ladies". Maybe it was my clothes. I was wearing jeans with rips in both knees and a black t-shirt with the logo of one of Led Zeppelin's records. Most people thought my ripped jeans and shabby t-shirts were part of some kind of punkish look, but in reality my parents just didn't have the money for new clothes. Especially with my little sister on the way. Mom was seven months pregnant and money was getting tighter and tighter, but I couldn't be more excited for little Estelle to be born. I've always wanted a sibling and when Mom was with Gabe I was afraid she would have a kid with him. That baby would have had Gabe as a "dad" and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I never knew my biological dad, apparently he was lost at sea, but it doesn't matter because Mom is with Paul now and he's a really great guy. The subway came to a screeching halt and with a start I realized it was my stop.

Annabeth's POV 6:30am

I woke up to the sunlight streaming through the window, birds were chirping, my hair miraculously stayed in the elaborate braid I put it in last night. Today was going to be perfect… I'm joking. I wish that's what happened. Instead I did wake up to the sunlight streaming through the window but I was blinded by its glaring light. My hair was a rat's nest and… I screamed, not a quiet light scream it was a full on bloodcurdling scream. My dad ran into the room, he looked like he had just woken up "What is it?" he said. I barely managed a stuttered reply, "Sp…Sp… SPIDER!" I pointed to the windowsill and he immediately looked relieved. All he said was "Oh." Then he took of one of his slippers and smashed the spider. "Thank you." I told him, "You're welcome'' he answered. He walked out of my room with one hand still clutched around his slipper. I checked the clock. It was only 6:34, I still had plenty of time to get ready for school. I got up from bed and grabbed my towel. I took a quick shower, brushed my hair and teeth, then threw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I smelt bacon and my stomach growled. I ran downstairs and into the kitchen. My stepmom was cooking breakfast. "Good morning Annabeth." She said without looking up at me. "Good morning" I replied. She finally looked at me and pursed her lips. "What are you wearing?' she asked. I looked down at my clothes, I didn't see anything wrong. I was wearing skinny jeans and a purple shirt with a grey owl on it. "Umm, clothes." I finally replied. She looked at me again and she calmly said "I just bought you a new outfit to wear for the first day of school. Please go put it on Annabeth." My voice sounded angry when I told her "It doesn't matter what I wear for the first day of school. Nobody is going to care. Besides I don't have time to change." I could tell what I said made her mad but she hid it well when she replied "Annabeth, it's only 7 o'clock, school doesn't start until 8 and we live less than 15 minutes away. You have plenty of time. Now please go change or you're grounded for a week." I rolled my eyes and stomped up the stairs.

I slammed my door shut and picked up the shopping bag that she gave to me last week. I hadn't even looked at the clothes yet. I dumped out the bags contents on my bed and groaned. A pair of dark blue high heels fell out followed by a dress that horrified me. It was pretty if you like that sort of thing, but I definitely did not. It was off the shoulder and would expose half my back. It was white with little dark blue flowers and would probably reach my knees. I tried it on and there was no way I was going to wear it. It only reached mid-thigh, and it exposed my breast so that look like they were on a platter for everyone to stare at, a lot of the girls at school wore outfits like these and with my blond curly hair it made me look like I was a slutty princess on vacation. The heels made my legs look longer than they were but I still didn't look like I was going to school more like I was invited to some kind of A-list party. I COULD NOT WEAR THIS! I went to take the dress off when I remembered my stepmother's words. Grounded for a week. I couldn't get grounded Piper just bought all of us tickets to the next baseball game. UGGGHHHH! I replaced the heels with a pair of beat up navy blue flats. I put a white tank top on underneath the dress so it covered most of my cleavage and I pulled my hair into a sloppy bun. It was a slight improvement. As I ran downstairs I checked the time. It was 7:30 and Thalia would pick me up at 7:45 so I still had time to eat breakfast. My stepmom looked me up and down as I walked into the kitchen. She slightly frowned when she seen the alters I made to the outfit. "Where are the high heels?" She asked. I barely held in my eye roll as I replied "I have to walk around all day and If I wear those heals I'll probably break an ankle." She just sighed and turned her attention back to her breakfast. I decided to breakfast and wait on the porch for Thalia.

This chapter is just the introduction so I know it starts a little slow and this chapter is short but It'll get better I promise. This is my first fanfiction so go easy on me.
