A little Fancy

One: Cooties
"You don't seem like yourself tonight."
Nancy spotted Jo-Jo staring at Jean-Claude Junior's fishbowl, watching the goldfish swim around before looking at her big sister.
The kindergartener rolled miserably on her bed, leaving space for the eight-year-old to sit on.
"Me and Freddie can't play pirate anymore," Jo-Jo spoke finally with a sigh.
"Why not? Who told you such a thing?" Nancy asked. "Because if it was a teacher, that would be unjust! Though I would comprehend if it was inside the classroom."
"No. Girls. They say that Freddie has cooties."
"Oh it's that revolting phase. It was neutralizing when I was little like you. I just never thought it would reappear again."
"Well it did," Jo-Jo frowned. "And it's stupid!"
"Josephine Clancy!" Nancy gasped. "You know that's not allowed. Mom said so."
"I know but it makes me so mad! Why can't I be friends with Freddie again?"
"You can. Jo-Jo, cooties are just immature. Eventually we'll grow up and think that boys or girls are dazzling but not right now. You can be amies with whoever you want no matter what anyone says."
"You think so?" Jo-Jo asked.
"Of course I do," Nancy smiled, noticing Mr. Monkey. "Now allons-y! I promised Mom I'd help you get ready for bed again."
Jo-Jo hopped off the bed, knocking off Mr. Monkey before putting him where he belonged as she hugged her sister.
"Can I have bubbles?"
Nancy normally would've been filled with dread at the thought of bubbles but she didn't want to dampen her little sister's mood.
"Sure. But no splashing! That's not fancy."
