"Raven! Look out!"
She looked around just in time to see a steel beam hurtling across the construction site right towards her head. She caught it with her dark magic and sent it right back where it came from. It slammed into Cinderblock and he toppled into a wall of bricks.
"Yeah! That's how you do it! Robin hollered as he ran past her, staff in hand. Starfire rained starbolts down upon the villain, while Cyborg blasted bits and pieces of him away. Beast Boy took the form of a rhino and charged forward to help subdue him. Raven began her chant.
"Azarath metrion…"
"Hello, Raven."
Raven turned around quickly to see a shadowy figure standing upon a building frame. She could not see him well, but she could see a pair of black eyes gazing upon her.
"Who are you?" She asked, her voice shaking.
"It does not matter. I see your powers are in retrograde." The black eyes said in a silky tone.
Raven turned away from the figure and flew towards Cinderblock to meet her friends. She tried to help.
"Azarath metrion zinthos!"
Her magic spluttered and blinked away. It wasn't working.
She heard that sinister voice in her ear, "I told you, it's gone."
"Get out of my head!" She screamed, bringing her hands to cover her ears. She looked back to where the figure was before, but saw nothing. He was gone.
The team continued to battle Cinderblock who just wasn't giving up. The monster got up and hurled a handful of bricks right at Raven.
"Azarath metrion zinthos!" The magic didn't come. She was hit and fell backwards to the ground unconscious.
The last thing she heard was Beast Boy's voice screaming her name.
"Raven!"
Everything went black.
