A real gentleman opened the door for a lady, thats what Spencer's mom had taught him. When he had been younger and had gone to the grocery shop he had always held the door for the lady behind him whether she was old or young, pretty or plain , it did mattered not his mom said. Heck sometimes he would rush in front of the next lady just to open the door, to make his mom proud of the great child she was raising. So he grew up like that. that is why when he saw the door slamming on a little girls face by the department store the other day, he rushed over to open it for her. The tears in her eyes quickly dried up and she smiled. Thank you she said.

"No problem, my mom taught me that a gentleman always opens the door for a lady."

"My grandma said my grandpa always opened the door for her. It must be true, too bad there aren't more gentlemen in this world. Thank you though." she said her nose hands clamping her nose shut to stop the nose bleed. Spencer wished people where nice too. Today's youth made him feel sad for the world. There where no people tipping their hats as they crossed the street. No one stopping by to help a stranger out who had fallen in the street. Well there where some people but the majority of the people suffered from the bystander effect, they always thought someone else was going to take charge, or else they just didn't care. It was sad. A gentleman should always open the door for a lady.

Just then in all of his sadness he turned around to leave the store once the child had been reunited with her mother and all was normal again, when he saw a little boy opening the door for an older girl.

"A boy should always open the door for a lady." the boy said smiling.

Yes they should, thought Spencer with a smile on his face.
