There were lights shining in the dark night. It was almost Christmas so there was snow falling on the streets and buildings making it look like someone had frosted them, like a cake. Everybody was happy because it was almost Christmas time…..everybody except for the orphans who lived at the Hudson Street Magical Orphanage. They were all asleep in their very small beds except for one orphan named Harry who was still awake and looking out of a window at the streets of New York City in the very early morning, about 4:00.

All of a sudden the quiet was interrupted by another orphan crying, it was Neville who was younger than Harry and had nightmares a lot because of how he saw his parents get brutally murdered when he was a baby. "Oh no don't cry Neville" Harry said worriedly as he went over to comfort him with a hug and sit on his bed. The locket on Harry's neck swung out of his shirt when he sat down and he tucked it back inside, he knew it wasn't manly but it was the only thing his parents had left him when they left him at the Hudson Street Magical Orphanage ten years ago when he was a baby. "Harry I had a nightmare again" Neville said. "Yes I know" Harry said. "Harry will you read me the letter your parents left you again?" Neville asked. "Yes of course." Harry said.

The other orphans had all woken up because of Neville crying so they also listened to Harry read the letter from his parents that said that they would be back and to take good care of him and that his name was Harry James Potter. Draco, who was a really mean orphan started to make fun of him and some of the orphans named Goyle and Cho also made fun of him. Hermione who was a nice orphan stood up for him but after Neville had felt better and Harry tucked him in to go back to sleep, Harry had already madeup his mind….

He was going to go find his parents!
