Prologue

Taking a shaky breath Iggy stood up. Darkness. Lonesome, familiar darkness. All he could do was feel the cold cave walls under his fingertips as he searched for an entrance, a way out. The only thing he felt was rock no matter how many times he walked around his prison. He was trapped, stuck in this hellhole and left to wander like a delusional rat.

That's all he ever was to them; a little guinea pig for them to toy with. The moment his parents decided they were done with him, he was no longer human. He was an experiment, labeled, recorded, and put to test whether it was on his DNA or his eyesight.

None of it was fair. He could see again, and then they tore it away from him just like they had before. It had been stupid to trust them, but he had done it anyway. And why? Because he was selfish, because the thought of being slightly more normal was more important to him than anything else. And now he was right back where he began, deserted and alone in the dark.

He could only hope they would find him again.
