Twins

Serena Tsukino looked like a normal fifteen year old student. She, like most of the students at the arcade, was stressed, exhausted, and more than a little hungry. The only thing that made her stand out from the others was her odd hairstyle.

In truth, normal was not a word that applied to Serena. Not by a long shot. It was hard to be normal when you were the Princess of the Moon Kingdom as well as Sailor Moon leader of the Sailor Senshi. And it was hard when she had secrets that she couldn't even share with the other Senshi or her beloved prince. In some things she was completely alone even when she desperately needed someone to lean on.

She sighed softly and headed outside. In truth, she was lonely. What she really wanted was someone who she could tell all her secrets to, not just a select few. And she didn't notice the car until it was too late. Staring into a pair of headlights, Serena did the only thing she could do; she used the power that Luna had forbidden her to ever use.

And with that she was no longer in the middle of a Tokyo street. She was instead in some kind of formal garden. And there was a girl staring straight at her. A girl who could have been her sister. Her hair was golden brown instead of Serena's pure gold, and her eyes were blue green instead of sapphire, but still there was a striking resemblance.

"Hi, I'm Serena."

"Relena."

And suddenly the gift of empathy that Serena struggled so hard to repress at home sprang into life, and Serena knew that Relena was the soulsister she had been longing for. And it seemed Relena had just realized the same thing.

They lay stretched out on the grass talking. Serena found herself telling Relena her entire story. Not just about being Sailor Moon and the Moon Princess, but also about discovering her other powers especially her ability teleport between dimensions. And the promise she had made to Luna to never use that power and to never speak of it to any of the Senshi, and how she had broken that promise and had learned to use that power.

In returned, Relena told her story. How her normal life had been thrown into chaos by the arrival of the gundams and the truth about her past. They talked for hours about anything and everything. About the serious things they faced and about the normal silly teenage things. She told Relena about Darien, and Relena told her about Heero.

It was uncanny how similar they were. Yes, there were some major differences, but that was fine by Serena. They didn't need to be carbon copies of each other; they needed to be friends.

Finally Serena sighed, "I should go back now."

Relena smiled, "You're always welcome to visit sister." She then frowned, "No, you're not my sister, not like Noin is. You're my...twin."

Serena grinned, "Twin, that sounds right somehow." She pressed her palm against Relena's, "I'll be seeing you twin."

She closed her eyes, and moments later she was back in Tokyo in a secluded alley. A smile lit her face as she headed home. The loneliness she had been feeling was gone.
