The Wind and the Mockingbird
The wind has blown across the world,
Carrying storms, and goods, seeing many things.
Whispering its way through peoples misfortunes,
Burdened by its own pains and fears,
The wind will blow on
The mockingbird has been the victim,
Of many hurts and loss.
Its wings are battered, eyes dull
The fire of its life is fueled only by hate
His voice cries no more for love or friends.
The wind pushes underneath the birds wings
Urging him to fly and leave
His pain behind and never look back.
Pushing him to spread his
Black and white wings and fly toward something better.
Ignored are the wind's urges
Left behind is its uplifting strength,
As the mockingbird fleas toward power,
The lying, greedy snake,
In hopes of burning the root of his pain.
Its friend lost, its pain heightened
it blows more fiercely,
Searching for what has gone,
Only to find what it has missed
And fear what its friend has become.
The mockingbird appeared more black
His heart shielded by ice,
While his hated burned brighter,
Fed by lies and power
The wind knew him no more.
Their paths crossed again and again.
Clashing and rippling through the world
The mocking bird his goal achieved,
Continued into ever darker ways
The wind whistled eerily in despair.
AN: So a few explanations o aide your understanding of my symbolism. This poem was inspired by another one I was writing, that I'm stuck on right now centered around Sasuke. Anyway in it I portray him as a mockingbird as well. In language arts when we read To Kill a Mockingbird, we learned that mockingbirds symbolize innocents lost to evil. I feel this is Sasuke in every way. Anyway, the wind should be obvious and I also connected that to the way a bird can use thermals, in this case the wind, to glide in the air and exert less energy. The way I see it Naruto tries to support Sasuke and Sasuke returns it more covertly. When he leaves though Sasuke leaves behind Naruto support, surviving only on his hate, and when Itachi was gone he accepted new revenge and became darker until Naruto seemed to longer be able to find the Sasuke he knew.
