Disclaimer: Bah, stupid disclaimers. Does anyone even read these things?? Oh well…here goes…The Slayers do not belong to me, they belong to their rightful owners *pouts* If they belonged to me, I wouldn't really be writing fics, now would I? Don't sue me, I don't get paid! I only wish I did!

*AN: Hi hi! This is really short (and hopefully cute) fic involving a certain redheaded sorceress and a blond swordsman ^_^ Sorry if Lina is slightly OOC!

One short moment

-----------------------------

For the rest of his life…

-----------------------------

It was the end of spring, the warm air thick and musky as it filled her lungs. The sun was high in the clear blue sky, the birds singing harmoniously as they flew by. Another figure lay beside her, his back propped up against the tree they both sat under. A field of green hills surrounded them; it was a perfect painting. His eyes were closed, and his chest rose and fell steadily in his sleep under the sweet shade of the tree.

A breeze whipped through her fire-red hair as she sat beside the tall blond swordsman who lay asleep beside her. As she gazed at his peaceful face a smile played on her lips. The grass beneath them swayed in the light spring breeze, which now carried the musky scent of summer as it approached. She moved her gaze from his handsome face down to his chest, where she could see the outline of his muscles through his blue shirt, and then lifted her gaze back to rest on his face.

Stupid Jellyfish brains…why do I have to act this way around you? She felt her cheeks flush as she realized she was staring at him, even though there was no one around to see them. Sometimes…sometimes I don't even know why I stay with you…but maybe its more like you're the one who stays with me…She blushed again, remembering the time he had said that he was going to be her protector for the rest of her life. Heh, the rest of his life…

Imagine that. Sorcery Genius Lina Inverse has a soft spot for a dumb blond swordsman who won't leave her. Guess that's what happens when you're around someone else for so many years…you grow attached. She sighed, her red hair cascading down her shoulders as she moved closer to him…for the rest of his life…

The heat of the increasingly hot spring day and the light shade which she savoured, along with the musky, warm flowery scent the breeze carried made her eyes begin to droop. She smiled, and cautiously moved closer to the sleeping man. Carefully, she let her head rest on his chest. Her red locks and his golden ones seemed to intertwine as she lay there in the soft grass. The sound of his heart beat and his own unique scent filled her mind and mingled together, and she basked in his warmth as her eyes began to close. "For the rest of his life…" she mumbled into his chest as sleep washed over her and took her. Just one short moment…

For the rest of his life, and for the rest of hers…

*AN: Bah, I know its not that great, but I had to write it. And it's really, really short, no? And yes, I know, I still have to finish my first fic, and I will, I swear! Anyways, please review and tell me what you think. Do you hate it? Like it? All criticism welcome, just no flames ^__^ Thanks –Vivi Laney
