Between the Shadow and the Soul
Bitterly cold, is this walk amongst the dead.
A Field of marble covered in snow,
My only company are stone angels-
Distant and Monumental.
The Howling wind
Bites through my cloak,
And chills me to the very core of my being,
As I make my way to your resting place.
Dusk settles around us
Greying light
Enveloping me like a shroud.
Yet I'm still here;
Mourning my love for you.
I lie on the ground,
Next to the mausoleum
Lost in sweet misery;
Re-living the memories.
At length, I rise,
Trails of ice on my cheeks.
As I relinquish the roses
I brought for your grave
To show you I still care;
The thorns catch my hand.
Drops of blood
Fall prettily to the ground,
Staining the white snow.
If still, I had to lose you,
I would do it all again.
As I turn and walk away;
At least I have this knowledge,
We loved each other,
And the love I have for you will remain;
Buried deep within me-
In the place between the shadow and the soul.
With a final glance at the crimson snow,
I wish
Saying goodbye wouldn't be so hard.
So I walk away,
Thus,
Leaving a part of me,
With You.
Thank you to all who have taken the time to read this. Any reviews are appreciated. If you must critize please be gentle, this was inspired by a loss of my own. So I dedicate it to Carl. I love you
