Tap tap tap.
Crane's eyebrow twitched.
Tap tap tap.
An exasperated sigh.
Tap tap tap.
'If you would please refrain from doing that, I would be extremely grateful.' Snapped Crane, sending a meaningful glare towards the boy seated in front of him. Said boy raised an eyebrow.
'No problem.' He answered, with a small smirk. Crane sighed and bent his head down again, continuing the sentence he was interrupted from. He was definitely beginning to regret letting the boy stay here for the day. Somehow, Rosethorn had convinced him into taking care of Briar today, while she went out to the city with Lark. Like the Martyr he was, Crane had charitably accepted. With no shortage of complaining on his part.
Anyway, now he was stuck with the 15-year-old, despite the fact that he was sure Briar could take care of himself. He had work to do, you know.
Tap tap tap.
Crane paused writing.
Tap tap tap.
Unbelievable.
Tap tap t-
'Briar! I specifically asked you to refrain from doing that! I have work to do!' Said Crane, indignantly. Briar rolled his eyes.
'Fine' He sighed.
Finally. Crane promptly got back to work. Just when he was finishing his sentence on the properties of Aloe leaf -
Crack. Crrrack.
Crane froze in a state of utter disbelief.
Crrrack. Crack.
The nerve! Crane sharply looked up at Briar, annoyed.
'When I asked you to refrain from doing that, I meant refrain from making any noise.'
Briar stopped cracking his knuckles.
'But I'm bored!' He exclaimed, gesturing wildly with his hands. Crane sighed yet again. It was becoming a habit. Crane though perhaps it was the boy's influence. Next thing you know, he'd look in the mirror and a grey hair would be staring back at him! This particular thought made Crane reel back in horror.
'Didn't scare ya, did I?' Briar asked with a cheeky grin. Crane narrowed his eyes. This boy needed to be taught a lesson. He brought his face very close to Briar's, so they were nose to nose.
'Listen here, boy. I let you stay here for the day as a favour to Rosethorn, Mila knows why. I expect you to behave yourself and keep out of my way. Understood?'
Briar moved his face even closer.
'Absolutely' He replied, his lips gently brushing Crane's in the process. Crane froze, a shiver dancing down his spine. He was staring straight into Briar's bright green eyes. A self-satisfied smirk was twitching at the edges of Briar's full lips. Crane had his pride. He couldn't let the boy get away with that.
He captured the boy's bottom lip in his mouth, tracing patterns with his tongue. Briar's eyebrows shot up, and it was Crane's turn to smirk. An activity Crane's mouth was definitely not used to.
Crane sat back down in his chair, the strange smirk still playing on his lips. Now, where was he? The properties of Aloe leaf -
Tap tap tap.
