Regina stifled a yawn as she sipped her cider. She was growing anxious now- not that she would ever admit that of course. She looked up at the clock for the tenth time in the same minute so see it strike three am.

She groaned to herself, hoping Emma was alright. Suddenly, her front door banged open and she heard fumbling, giggling before a loud clatter, followed by a gasp and a "holy shit!"

Regina dashed out to the hall- so much for acting like she didn't care- to see Emma wobbling in the door, with Regina's key bowl smashed on the floor. She looked at Emma, who was staring at the floor, her mouth fallen open. Fortunately for Regina, Emma hadn't noticed her and so Regina was able to compose herself and keep up her hostile attitude.

"Miss Swan," she said, her voice coming out in that gentle purr. But this time, rather than entice Emma, all it did was make her swallow nervously and glance up at her.

"R-Regina I didn't- it just-" Regina bit her lip, hard, to try and stop laughing at Emma's trembling face. But to no avail.

She couldn't help it. Regina laughed. Emma's head snapped up to see if Regina was tricking her, but Emma saw no signs of cruelty. Regina was genuinely laughing at her. Emma couldn't help but grin docilely at her girlfriend as she stepped towards her, slipping slightly on the broken glass.

Regina lifted her hands to wipe a tear streaming down her face as she wrapped her arms around Emma's neck. "I'm glad you're home, dear," she managed to say, her laughter subsiding now Emma was close.

"I'm glad you're not angry," Emma mumbled, her lips placing slopping, wet kisses to Regina's jaw, making her sigh happily.

Of course Regina wasn't angry. She loved drunk Emma- it was like seeing her inner child be set free. And Emma always spoke more clearly when she drunk- ironically. She was also easier to handle and less likely to refuse if Regina asked her to do something.

"I'm never angry with you, Emma," Regina whispered in the blonde's ear, smiling as she felt Emma's head drop to rest on her shoulder. "Come on, let's get to bed."
