Putting on his gloves, Vert gave off a smile as he looked out the window of his room. It was sunny, not too hot, and not too windy outside in the town of Handler's Corners. "The weather's perfect," he commented. Turning around, he walked out of the room, through the sleeping quarters, and down the stairs to the Hub.

"Captain," he heard Tezz's voice say. Vert turned to find Tezz leaning out the doorway of the lab he and Sherman shared. "What are you doing awake at this hour?"

"Just going for a spin on the flats," Vert told him. "Need some quality alone time if you know what I mean."

"You wish to be by yourself for a moment?" Tezz guessed, not having his program that helped him should he come across an expression.

"That's right," Vert answered. "I'll be at the diner afterwards."

"What about that girlfriend of yours?" Tezz asked. "She has something to tell you."

"For the umpteenth time, Tezz, she is not my girlfriend," Vert reminded him in annoyance. "She's just someone I view as a friend."

Secretly, he admitted that Tezz did have a point. Everyone on his team had someone to call their love. Everyone except him, that is, for he kept rejecting his love interest's advances out of fear of her advances and that his team would laugh at him if they found out he reciprocated those feelings.

"I see," Tezz lied under his teeth. The former's stress was becoming more and more visible. "You go and have your fun."

"I'll see you for training later," Vert told him as the latter walked back into the lab.

The wind rushed by as he drove in the Salt Flats. It had been a long time since he felt that thrill, the rush of joy that came as he hit the gas and sped through the sand.

And he enjoyed every minute of it. It helped to clear his head about what was going on in his heart.

As the former continued to drive, a portal aftershock opened in the distance. Wondering why that aftershock was there, he drove through it.

The portal took him to the Crystal Zone and down a winding path of white crystals. As he drove, he looked around the area. A red light was in the distance. Curious, he began to drive up to it.

"Forget," a voice commanded in his head.

Vert stopped the open wheel car and let the windshield slide open. Getting out of his vehicle, he readied his sword in case that someone who spoke to him attempted to attack.

"Why so serious?" the voice asked. "Forget about the thoughts clinging onto your human mind."

Oh, how he wanted to forget her. But his consciousness was telling him that he has to accept her advances and confess that he loved her. However, his fear was holding him down, so he acted like he was oblivious to her love.

"Will you or won't you forget?" the voice asked.

It was around that time Vert realized he let his guard down as he stared directly into the light.

"You're Ky-!" Vert began, but stopped short as the light and confusion overcame his will. His grip on his sword loosened, and it dropped to the ground with a loud clang.

"That's better. Now, come..." she instructed. Vert walked on ahead.

"Wait out here, my pet," the female voice commanded as Vert fell on his knees in front of a small pool of water. His reflection displayed his face and upper body. His blue eyes, once shining with the light of a clear sky, were now dark and cloudy from hypnosis.

"As you wish," he complied in a trance-like tone. "Mistress Kyburi."
