His mind was blank yet held a white noise chattering non-stop, and he felt it all the way to his toes. Sasuke Uchiha, never one to be nervous, found himself in a buzzing state of uncertainty. Though this morning the calendar in his shabby kitchen had screamed him the date- March fourteenth, White Day- and he'd marched out with definite purpose, seeing the pink haired medic turned his insides violently.

And he hadn't fully come to grips with the fact that his pursuance of her hadn't been a one-time thing in response to her vaguely unsweetened chocolates she'd given him on Valentine's Day. Although his girlfriend's sweets had been the only gifts he'd eaten on the day of love, they weren't the only ones he'd gotten. Fans had poured a chocolate river over him and he felt himself getting cavities thinking about it. But not Sakura's. He remembered how gingerly he'd pulled the tie off of the cellophane-wrapped fan shaped treats. His fingers had passed carefully over the candy, as if he didn't want to touch it more than necessary. The first bite he had been cautious. The second bite he wished there were more treats in the bag he'd been given.

He felt first-bite cautious, now, though, as he stalked towards the kunoichi. Her bright green eyes turned towards him and she smiled a small grin, her usual greeting. "Nee, Sasuke-kun? Are you okay?"

He knew his face must have reflected so of the madness he felt, so he merely swallowed a grating gulp that pushed against his Adam's apple and nodded. The words of his long-missed mother rang against his ears. 'Sasuke, if you get something from a girl you like on Valentine's Day, you have to pay her back threefold on White Day, okay?' His childish self never imagined he'd end up being this particularly nervous about returning the favor, though. He forced himself to sit down next to the pinkette and looked at her. They had been dating only a few short weeks and he felt desperate to not mess anything up.

"Sasuke?" Her eyes widened as she realized his face was nearing hers, eyes scrunched tightly enough that it looked painful. In spite of herself, a light chuckle escaped her throat and she found her hand move instinctively to his jaw. A small peck later, she saw Sasuke's face change into his version of embarrassment.

She kissed him, really. He still owed her. His stomach flopped anew as he considered his options, none of which seemed appropriate.

"How about we go to dinner somewhere?" Sakura smiled, her head tilting to the side.

He nodded, feeling defeated and yet indefatigable. There was always next year. And the thought of her being by his side made him smile, despite the fact the he had all too many White Days to pay her back for. Plus, the Dobe hadn't gotten a kiss out of Hinata yet.
