AN: This is just a short little one shot I wrote a while back and desided to publish here. Sorry to anyone who's reading my stories, but their all going to be on hold for a little while, but when I have a chance I will atleast try and post little stories like this. Enough with my insane ramblings and on with the story.
Disclamer: I own nothing.
Luna's Mask
"It is our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
-Albus Dumbledore
She thought that things would be different after the war, that maybe, just maybe, they would see her for who she really was, on the inside, and not who they thought they saw on the outside. It was only after the war ended did she see how naive she had been, thinking things would ever be different. They still saw the same thing when they looked at her; the still same the same loony little girl who had gone be Hogwarts before the war, they didn't recognize the war harden woman that now took her place. Of course the mask was still there, the mask of strange little girl that they all recognized. But that was all it had ever been, a mask, nothing more nothing less. A mask to show people that the war had not changed everything. It was a mask she wore for their sake knowing that the war harden woman was just confirming their fears. They needed one constent, one memory of the good times, of the time before the war when everything seemed right. Before the pain and loss that the war had brought, when everyone was still alive, they need someone, and she willingly complied. So she endured it, she insure their teasing for their own sake, it was kind of ironic actually, she thought to herself. But she did it knowing they would never accept her for who she really was, for in their eyes anyways she was always the same, Loony Luna Lovegood, nothing less, nothing more. But she didn't let bother her, she never had, because after all she was doing this for their sake, as she always had. But the mask was slipping, coming closer to falling with every day that passed. Oh she had tried to hold on to it , tried to keep it from slipping, but slowly is was removing itself from her grasp. She knew that someday soon it was going to slip, and she feared, dreaded, and couldn't wait for that day, the day they saw the girl behind the mask, the real Luna Lovegood.
"The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with caution."
-Albus Dumbledore
