Mice On Venus

You load up Minecraft.

You start a new Survival world.

You spawn.

You faintly hear a small piano melody emit from your laptop.

You clumsily travel about, learning the controls and mining your first wood. Maybe even falling into a river on accident.

You create a Crafting Table.

You set to work on making some tools and weapons.

You hunt animals, like pigs and cows.

You, after seeing the sun right above you, signaling midday, you decide to call a place your own.

You set to work building a house out of dirt and wood (maybe even cobblestone).

Its definietly far from perfect.

But its yours.

You see its almost sunset.

You decide to look around and explore around your makeshift abode.

You munch on some apples and cooked meat as you explore.

Then, things begin to get dark.

You go inside your home, close it up with dirt, and light the inside up with torches.

You wish the night would be over with.

But then, you remember that faint melody in the backround.

Mice on Venus.

You listen to the song, being wisked away to a far off land where castles, towers, and floating islands await.

You feel yourself dozing off at your laptop.

Then, suddenly, you hear...flames?

You mine one block out of your house at face level to see what's happening.

You see zombies and skeletons with bows burning alive, only to eventually poof away in a cloud of smoke, leaving flesh and bones. Maybe even a bow and some arrows.

You mine out of your first home. Your home.

You look into the sky.

Its a new day.

You survived your first night.

Maybe you don't need that bed after all...

Hey there! Its me, JKRow! Its been a while since I've written anything, so I may be rusty. I came up with this short story while listening to some Minecraft songs and stumbling onto Mice on Venus. I even thought up of everything off the top of my head.

Anyways, Minecraft really changed me and I can't thank it enough. While it now may be microtansactions and cringy 9 year olds, to me, Minecraft is a game of sinplicity.

Songs like Mice on Venus and 08_Minecraft reflect this.

Anyways, let me know what you think!
