Love in the Maelstrom

In the time before, she was swimming in a world of grey (she thinks it was supposed to be black and white).
But then he came along bringing with him all the colours of the world (green like fresh cut grass, purple like the iris's her mother used to love, and the red of roses blooming in the snow).
He was so bright it burned; burned away all of the gray that had seeped into her life (success, money, fame, she thinks they used to matter).

He burned a hole inside her, a hole she filled with thoughts of him (the way he smiled, the way he moved).
He shattered her into pieces (broken yet whole) and formed her into something new (an echo of you).
She will never be free of him (not that she wants to be) and she'll never leave him (nothing inside but you).
He wasn't what she wanted (something that she needed) and he turned her world upside down (she likes it better this way).
He used to bring her flowers (the colour of blood) now he bites 'til she bleeds (the colour of love), hands in her hair (and hands on her heart), it's pleasure and pain (these days they're the same).

He spins her around like a whirlwind (she just can't catch her breath).
They say that it's wrong (but it feels so right), how can it be wrong? (so wrong that it's right).
They say that's she's broken (broken but whole), that they just want to fix her (made in the image of you).
Endless therapy and interventions, decisions to be made (freedom from choice).
He doesn't love you, never did (always will), you can be strong without him (nothing without him), he causes nothing but pain (love hurts).

What do they know? (colourblind in a world of grey).
A complicated world (simplicity of submission), he cuts through the confusion, carving his name on the city (the blood wells up).
Pushes her away (it's just a game), she always comes back (can I win this time?).
Every touch is divine (the devil in his eyes), each mark a sign he cares, (prove it again).
Burn the world down (love in the maelstrom).
