After the recovery of the Great Zapfish and the defeat of DJ Octavio, one can say life in the bustling city of Inkopolis returned to its ordinary routine of good ol Splatfest fun. Yet, there is always something lurking in the shadows to cause trouble no matter how big or small, so it's up the unlikeliest of heroes to heed the call. These heroes are the smallest and simultaneously at the same time, the most combat efficient team in all the law enforcement departments... Special Assault Logistics Team (SALT).

One member in particular is slow to get up as the sun just slightly peeks its rays through the slit of the curtain and into the face of a mollusk in full bloom. With fair skin and red tentacles tied in a way to look like a high ponytail, Becca leisurely flips to her side to avoid the sun and get more sleep. However, after hitting the snooze button on her alarm clock several times, another figure enters the room without a sound and proceeds to gently wake up the Octoling.

"Oi, Becca, it's already morning, our patrol is in an... ACK!"

After lightly shaking her body with his hand and whispering his plea, Becca unknowingly swings her leg up to make connect with his gills on the side of his neck, causing him to fall to his knees.

"Ack... *cough*...*cough*" he continues on, holding his neck.

"Mmmmm... huh? What are you doing, Sammy? More importantly... don't sneak into my room so casually!" Becca says, going from a nonchalant mood to a hostile one.

"Then wake up to your alarm, so I don't need to please. Anyway, breakfast is ready... ow" Sammy, still on knees, says while rubbing his bruised neck.

"Make sure to knock next time." Becca tells him as she throws on some sweats.

"You told me not to last time!"

Despite his outburst, Becca laughs and Sammy could only smirk knowing full well that this was how they get along.

An Octoling and a Sharkarian.

As Becca looked more human-like than anything, Sammy on the other hand looked like a Mako shark that grew arms and legs, as well as towered over her by a good margin. The Octolings were already accepted into the Inklings' society, this included other species such as sharks and so to show their gratitude, jobs like law enforcement and the like were taken up by them.

Back to the team sitting at the table located in a apartment in Inkopolis, Sammy and Becca enjoy breakfast along with the news being broadcasted by the pop idol duo "Off the Hook."

"... that's the news for now and like always... Don't get cooked... Stay off the hook!" Pearl and Marina sign off before another program takes over.

"Marina is definitely an idol I wanna meet, she's so serene and... charming." said Sammy with a innocent grin on his face just wishing for an autograph.

Becca sternly kicks him in the shin snapping him out of his daze before taking another bite of rice from her bowl with a vein showing on her forehead.

"Anyway, we're on patrol today, right? Team 3 mentioned some suspicious cargo that reached the shipyard during their run and so far there was no movement on the containers, but the contents are still unknown." Becca reports before reaching for the soy sauce.

"Ah yes, those containers also lack a return address. The sturgeon that moved them are under investigation for the time being." Sammy adds, chewing some fried fish.

"Easy day if the containers turn out empty. By law we can't just open them up, so until the addressee comes by we'll watch over it."

"Becca, you know... keeping that rigid look is going to give wrinkles. You should smile more like Mari... n..nevermind." Sammy says without any ill-intention only to end up choking feeling a burning gaze from his partner.

After placing the dishes in the sink, the two proceed to change into their uniforms consisting of a white dress shirt with a radio and badge followed by a pair of slacks for Sammy and a skirt for Becca. They make their way towards the patrol car, Becca leading with the keys in hand and Sammy with a bulky duffle bag. After saying a few "good mornings" to the locals, Sammy squeezes himself in the passenger seat.

"Couldn't there be a budget for bigger cars."

"Blame yourself for eating too much."

"But you always cook double portions...and it's always good." Sammy responds with startled tone and turning red.

"Okay, okay." Becca mutters, turning away to hide a blush then steps on the gas.

"RED LIGHT, BECCA, RED LIGHT!" screams the shark, as the Octoling quickly takes a shortcut zooming towards the shipyard.
