Chapter one:
The sky was gray. Heavy clouds blocked the rays of the Mid-Afternoon sun. Amelia quickly sprinted to the Bennet's house. A pie her mother made herself and a sorry letter she was to deliver. This was suppose to be a sorry gesture for what happened at Elizabeth Bennet's Wedding. Why did her father have to cause a scene. And her brother Daniel. He did not have to be so rude and barbaric to Kitty. There was something he said that hurt Kitty so bad that she cried to Mister and Misses Bennet. What Daniel said to Kitty made Mister Bennet furious and raged. What he said almost caused Mister Bennet and Amelia's father, Mister Winfred to hurt each other. Daniel told her:
" I would rather eat pig's livers and join the sharks in the ocean than to be with you, marry you, or lay in bed beside you, you ninny."
Amelia struck him on the face in front of everyone. Elizabeth and Darcy were upset by this disaster. But Darcy's sister, Georgiana, enjoyed it. She thought the fighting was entertaining to her.
A few days later, Kitty didn't want to talk to Amelia. Neither did the rest of the family. Misses Bennet spread horrid rumors about Fiona and Daniel. The Bennets still had respect for Amelia but it was just her family they hated so much. Her mother, Cecily, wanted to put a stop to all this nonsense, she referred to the hating, and become friends. All agreed except for Daniel. He seem to hate the Bennets for some reason. Cecily forced Daniel to write an apology letter. He wasn't sorry for what he said to her. He was sorry for the was he acted in front of Anna Vaughn, the girl Daniel had a liked and was hoping to marry her. He never talked to her. It wasn't Daniel's fault Kitty like him. Almost every girl in the town liked Daniel.
Amelia banged on the front door. It started to rain. First a drizzle and now heavy rain.
" I'm coming. I'm coming." A voice said as the door opened. " Amelia Winfred, come in." The maid took the pie out of her hands. " I'll warm this up for the Bennets."
She entered the house. She slowly walked into the room where the Bennets were having breakfast. Amelia lowered her head. Mary was at the piano, but stop as Amelia walked in. It seem strange being in the now quiet house. Without Elizabeth, Jane, or Lydia, Amelia felt kind of awkward being around just Kitty and Mary. Mary was Amelia's best friend and Kitty and Lydia was Amelia's sister, Fiona, best friends.
Instead of greeting her they just stared at her. She walked to the opposite side of the table where Kitty was sitting. Amelia handed her the letter.
" I am sorry for the was Daniel acted that day. Your not the only girl he said mean things to. Plus, he was outraged about joining the British army..."
"Please, it is alright, Amelia. We forgive Daniel and your family." Misses Bennet interrupted.
" Yes. I moved onto another boy. Well, man actually. He's a soldier." Kitty said smiling. " I'll tell you about him tomorrow."
" Tell your mother what I told you. Oh, and please send my apology to Fiona." Misses Bennet said.
Amelia sighed. She was relieved that they didn't hate her but why wouldn't they speak to her or look at her in the streets. She can't control what family she is born into. Amelia bowed. She noticed her boots were making footprints of mud on the hardwood floor. She quickly felt embarrassed. She was glad all was said and done. The past was the past.
" Don't forget to come by here tomorrow." Mary shouted behind Amelia.
She was already out the door. Now, she had a long walk home in the dreadful rain.
