A/N: I must warn you that it doesn't have a happy ending, so don't read if you want to be cheerful at the end of the fic (you have been warned so no flames to that affect). Gotten from Techie's LJ list of prompts (#34). All cannon characters belong to Cooper/Wright. Read and Review.

He always brought her flowers, where he got them from she didn't know. It wasn't like there was a florist down the street, but she loved it still. They were a simple reminder that, to him, she was special in his eyes. When he brought them the first time she thought that something was wrong, that they were wrong; but he quickly pushed those doubts out of her mind with a passionate kiss.

He brought them on their first date and every date soon after.

He brought them before and after he went on a mission.

He brought them when he proposed.

He brought them after she told him she was pregnant.

He brought them after their son died a few days after birth.

The flowers were reminders of how much he cared and they were always comforting to her. They brightened her day and she realized how much she looked forward to when he would appear in the doorway of her office holding a bouquet.

She stood on the balcony watching him go through the Gate and it wasn't until after the Gate had shut off did she realize that he hadn't brought her any flowers.

The next thing she knew, John was radioing for a med team then he and Teyla came stumbling through the Gate, supporting him. Pushing back tears, she watched from her spot on the balcony as Carson tried to stop the bleeding. But he wasn't able to and soon he was gone. She slowly made her way down the steps and over to where everyone was around his body. They were all looking at her, waiting for her to speak.

Blinking back tears, she whispered, "He didn't bring me flowers before he left."

Now whenever she looked at flowers she remembered how he used to give them to her; she never did find out where they came from. But all that didn't matter now, all that mattered was that he was gone and her love of flowers gone as well.

She stood against the railing, gazing out at the sea and letting her mind wander. In her hand was a single flower; it was from the last bouquet he had given her. A single tear slipped down her face as she tossed the flower and watched it as it fell down into the water.

"Good bye Rodney." She whispered. "I'll miss you."

Flowers would never hold the same meaning for her again.
