Disclaimer: I don't own Power Rangers. The idea of Kim's little boy belongs to DigiExpert who's letting me use him. He's from her fic called Unlucky Clover, but this fic has no connection to her fic in any way. It's just my Tommy muse won't STOP singing until I write this. It's set during DT. Thanks to Digiexpert for the beta.

King of Wishful Thinking

Tommy was on his way home from school. Today had been terrible. His students, all except his rangers, had been loud, noisy, and inconsiderate. Tommy sighed loudly. The fact that Kim's memory wouldn't stay dead and buried was also bugging him. Today, it re-surfaced when Cassidy told Devin that she needed to get an interview with Kimberly Hart, world famous Olympian gold medalist. Frustrated, he slammed his left hand on the wheel and turned on the radio.

"I'll get over you... I know I will.

I'll pretend my ship's not sinking.

And I'll tell myself I'm over you.

I don't need to fall at your feet.

Just 'cause you cut me to the bone.

And I won't miss the way that you kiss me.

We were never carved in stone.

If I don't listen to the talk of the town,

Then maybe I can fool myself..."

"Just great... Perfect... God must really hate me right now," Tommy complained. He hated this song. It reminded him to much of himself, and Kimberly. It wasn't that he hadn't tried to get over Kim; her memory wouldn't leave him alone along enough for him to accomplish his goal. Sometimes, Tommy was tempted to ask Kim how she had moved on. She was now married with one beautiful little boy named Nathan. They were quite happy. Her husband was indeed as nice as she had said in her letter. However, she had been wrong about Tommy liking the guy. How could he like someone who had stolen his world? He shook his head. He wasn't gonna go there. He had to be optimistic. He would get over her. He knew he would. After all, Kim wasn't the only fish in the ocean. Kat had been hinting lately that she wanted to try again, and Hayley had been giving more than a few glances when she thought he wasn't looking. The more he thought the more confident he grew; he'd get over her. He just needed to stop listening to everyone else.

"I'm the king of wishful thinking."

AN: If you can name the song, its artist, and which movie it comes from correctly you'll get a Tommy icon; made by moi.
