A/N: Okay, this story has no real placing, but I wrote it a while ago and I wanted to publish it, hope you like it!
She sometimes thought about that day she had seen pain she thought impossible in Sawyers' eyes. The day they had escaped from the others.
"All you have to do is say sorry."
"Sorry don't suit me that much, Freckles."
All you have to do is say sorry, that may have been possible then, Kate thought, but not now.
"Hey Kate." a voice called. She knew who it was, but she didn't want to turn around and face him.
"Hey Jack." Kate answered with her back towards him. He looked like he wanted to say something, but he didn't know what. "How's it going?" she spoke, breaking the silence as she picked up the closest fruit and turned to face him, he looked like a stranger, drained, but full, happy, yet sad, he didn't look like her Jack, well he wasn't, not anymore.
"Pretty good." Jack smiled. He looked at her; she was different too, but worse.
"Wh-?" Jack and Kate both began, but then stopped.
"You go." said Kate.
"No, you." Jack answered; they both gave a slight flush.
"Have any of you guys seen Sawyer?" asked Hurley coming up from behind them, as he looked around. Jack shook his head.
"He was in his tent this morning." Kate replied, not having any reaction to Sawyer's absence. Hurley walked away, still looking around, weirdly.
"Hey Jack." Juliet smiled, walking up to the pair. "Hi Kate." as she glanced at her politely.
"Hi." murmured Kate. "I-I have to go. Bye Jack." she hurtled into the jungle, cheeks hot. She just kept walking; she didn't want to run, not now, not from Jack.
She was where they had first kissed along time ago; she hated this place, her guilt, that's all she could remember. When Sawyer had been hurt, where was sawyer now? Kate thought to herself, how did she just forget about like that? She heard a rustle in the trees in front of her, she thought it could be Sawyer, but she knew it wasn't.
She screamed quietly, it was the monster again, how many times would she have to run for something that didn't seem real, though it was. Now she ran, she like she knew Sawyer was Sawyer and Jack was Jack. She tried not to look back, but the second she did, she fell. She had run into someone and fell hard to the ground.
"Freckles?" asked Sawyer surprised and staring at Kate with a frown. Kate groaned as she sat up from the ground, she scratched her head where she had hit it. Blood trickled on her hand. Sawyer stared at it, and he ripped his shirt and looked at her head and pressed his shirt again her wound.
"We need to get you to Jack." Sawyer said, still examining her head, curiously.
"No." she replied, as she shook her head.
"Freckles, you bleeding, don't get me wrong, it's not as if I wanna go see the Doc right now, but you're hurt." Sawyer said, trying to hide his concern.
"No, I am not going to see Jack. I don't want to go see Jack, and I am not going to. Right now, I don't need him, I just need you. I only want you, that's it, nothing more, just you." Kate explained, looking sadly into his eyes.
"Whatever you say." Sawyer smiled, looking at her gratefully. "I want you too." he added quietly, but she heard, he knew she had.
It was his turn to be the hero now.
A/N: I might not continue this; it depends on the reactions and how many reviews I get. Please review!
