Summary – Cas bakes for the first time
Please note: I own the character (Beth) and the plot of this story, however, the characters (Castiel) belong to Supernatural and Eric Kripke! Thanks
Castiel looked around the room, noting the different patterns decorating the walls. Splashes of grey, black and white were painted on different sections of the room. Abstract paintings hung around the room creating a colourful picture. A black laptop sat on the white plastic desk in the far corner of the room, accompanied with a white swivel chair.
He glanced quickly over to the bed, where a small figure was draped across the sheets. In the basking light of the sun, he could see the pale skin of her body, the black boy shorts and the red tank top hitched across her midsection. Her dark red hair was splayed across the pillows. His eyes drifted slowly across her face, taking in the soft curve of her cheeks, her eyes were tightly shut, and her small pale pink lips pouted. Her hands limply laid above her head, bent at the elbow.
Castiel took a tentative step forward, missing the books that were slung on the floor next to the bedside table. His eyes travelled across the floor, working his way around the other casually slung items on the floor.
A murmur pierced his thoughts, "Cas?"
Walking gracefully over to her side, he gently touched her cheek. The soft skin beneath his palm calmed his mind, knowing she was safe and alive was the best thing he could know. So many times, he had unknowingly put her in danger and a few times he made the mistake of trusting the wrong people he shouldn't have. His mind race to the times she was hurt because of a low life demon, and as a result… she has been tortured by them in so many ways; physically, emotionally and mentally.
She shifted and opened her eyes to find bright blue eyes staring into her light green eyes. His eyes searched hers for a moment, after finding what he needed, he brought his lips onto hers. It was a short and sweet kiss, but a kiss that would be cherished forever.
"Hey," she greeted with a sleepy smile.
Not replying, Castiel pulled her up and carefully manoeuvred her body so she was in a standing position. Her hands gripped his shoulder tightly, her eyes drooping slightly as his arms wrapped around her waist. Watching carefully, his hands moved to grab hers. A tiny smile appeared on his face as she giggled at his actions.
She let out a startled gasp as she was tugged into the hallway of her apartment. More paintings hang on the white and beige walls. Ahead of us were several doors leading to different rooms; bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
"Where are you going? What are you up to?" She asked with a small smile knowing he was in one of his curious moods. When he was like this, then usually he wants to do something…human. She would always be happy to help a curious angel. Looking at him now, she could see the small wonder lit up in his eyes.
Still not answering, he walked into the kitchen. The sun reflected brightly of the white cabinets. Ingredients and utensils littered the counters in an organised manner. She frowned as she tried to remember placing them there. Selected bowls of different sizes and colours, teaspoons and tablespoons, a whisk; these were a few of the items placed around her.
Realisation quickly flashed across her eyes as she took in the ingredients for baking cakes.
Smiling softly, she turned to look at the oven. '9:35' appeared in block red numbers. Sighing to herself, she glanced up to watch Castiel as he looked in one of her cookery books.
"Are we in a baking mood today?" She teased him with a smile.
He nodded slightly. He quickly analysed the page before turning to the ingredients. As he went to grab the first ingredient, a small hand stopped him. She flicked the book over to view the front page and smiled. 'Mama's Recipes' was sprawled across the front of what appeared to be an old notebook. He had grabbed her favourite book for baking. She glanced back at the page, sighing.
Glancing up, he saw her shake her head. For a moment, he watched the small movement with wonder. Tiny strands of her flew across her face. Reaching the strand, he carefully tucked the escaped strand of hair and placed it behind her ear.
She commented in an amused voice, "you don't start with that. You need to cream the butter first, silly."
She walked around to Castiel's side and showed him how to do it. Placing the 125g of butter into the mixing bowl, she stirred the butter until it was smooth and creamy. Next, she grabbed the castor sugar and added 125g, she mixed them both together, keeping it smooth. Happy with her work, she offered Castiel the 275g of self-raising flour. Pouring the flour into the bowl, he let a smile grace his lips. She asked him to mix the ingredients. After doing so, she placed the eggs into the bowl one at a time. After a few minutes of a constant stir, she added the baking powder, she placed the cake mixture into a cake tin and placed into the oven, already pre-heated. She set the timer for 20 minutes.

Time passed as she cuddled with him. However, the cuddling stopped short. A beeping noise shouted across the room. Castiel jumped in surprise and got into a defensive position.
A gentle arm made him turn around as he heard chuckles follow the movement.
"Just the timer, silly."
Nodding, he followed her into the kitchen and was happy to see the cake on the cooling tray, and oven mitts placed on her hands.

Once the cake was cooled, she covered the cake in icing in the shape of an angel. After suggesting he place some decorations over the icing, she stood back and watched as his eyes lit up like a little kid getting presents.
Castiel had made his first cake with an angel on top. He smiled and at that moment he was glad he had her. She was everything to him, and because of her, he was learning small things that made her very happy.
The End!
