Abraham had done much talking with his son, and how God had told him to circumcise all males. The 13 year old went to talk with other boys,and finally they appeared before Abraham, waiting in a tent. All the males in his camp were there, wearing nothing except for a loin cloth. Abraham had a flint knife, and beckoned for his son to follow him into the tent, which he did. In the tent Abraham tore off the cloth, and grabbed the boy's penis. Swiftly focusing on the knife, he made a slash into the foreskin. Ishmael screamed, and Abraham gave him a stick to bite down on. Abraham knew it would hurt a boy his age greatly, but God commanded this and he would only obey. The circumcision continued until Abraham had cut off his son's foreskin and tossed it onto the ground. There was a pool of blood, and using a cloth Abraham cleaned it and the sweat off, and put the cloth around his son's genitals. Ishmael was sobbing in pain and could hardly walk out. The next boy was only 7 and screamed his heart out. After all of the children were down it was time for the men. While they did not shriek like the boys many showed signs of agony. All the foreskins were tossed onto the ground, blood flowing from the penises. Finally one of the men did it to Abraham. The men walked out and lay down in shady trees to rest. Goats bleated around them. The young children were still crying. But this was the covenant, it had to be obeyed.
