This was written for Lily (Violet Scarlet Lily). She won Fanfiction's Next Top Writer: Round One, and this is a prize for her.

Also dedicated Lovisa (lowi) who inspired the format of this piece.

they were infinite

sirius/marlene

They stood there at the top of the cliff, happiness overflowing in their minds.

They'd left their worries and insecurities behind, right at the bottom of the cliff, and everything that mattered most was right there with them, in their hearts.

They had with them everything they'd ever lived for and everything they'd be willing to die for. They had each other.

They stood there in silence, reaching out to each other's hearts more than ever.

And in that moment, they were infinite.

'.'.'

He was a prankster.

She was a gossip.

He liked attention.

She hated it.

They were just so different from each other that either they could be sworn enemies or star-crossed lovers, and believe it or not, they'd been both. He was the Romeo to her Juliet, and she was the Jane to his Tarzan - by the time they finished school, you couldn't spell his name without saying her's.

'.'.'

They's hadn't always been in love - no, they'd have to learn to tolerate each other first.

She couldn't bear his jokes and vainness.

He couldn't bear her cheesiness and teased her to no end.

They hated each other so much that it'd take each of their best friends to make them stay in the same room as the other.

'.'.'

By seventh year, he'd had enough of teasing her. He lay low for a while, still hitting on girls, but in lesser proportion. They were in middle of the war, really, who care for such stuff, anyway?

Dumbledore made both of them sign up for the Order of the Phoenix, a Light side organisation. That's when they knew that how much ever they wished, they would never see the end of each other - the wizarding world was far too small for that.

They'd have to get used to the fact, and that was what brought them closer.

'.'.'

People didn't say 'opposites attract' for nothing.

It was nothing but the truth.

He was the yin to her yang, and that was what brought them closer.

'.'.'

One thing lead to another, and soon the two of them lived in their own fantasy land. They lived their life of ecstasy, as if no one existed besides them.

Fate had brought them together, and each other was what they lived for.

'.'.'

He was Sirius.

She was Marlene.

Being together, forever, was what defined them.

He was Sirius, she was Marlene, and love was what kept the flicker of hope burning in their hearts.
