Okay,
so I know a lot of people have written about Bella having nightmares
and Edward being there to help her through them. Please, give mine a
chance. As always r & r please. Tell me what you think. This is
set a bit after he returns to her- after his dreaded absence
"Love?"
my sweet angels' voice called, his strong arms holding me to his
chest.
"Mhm?"
"You're falling asleep on me. Why don't
you go to sleep if you're tired? You know I understand."
"I
can't talk to you if I'm sleeping." He laughed softly, his
chest rising.
"Bella, love you weren't talking anyway, you
were slowly drifting to sleep. I don't mind really. I like watching
you sleep and I promise I will be here when you wake."
"But-"
He pressed his lips softly to my ear, humming my lullaby. I hated
when he did this, he always put me to sleep this way. I gave up
realizing that my fight would be in vain. I lay my head against his
chest, arms around his waist and drifted to sleep.
Nothing
but trees lay around me. My face burned eyes red from tears. I didn't
know where I was and… Edward left me- left me standing there.
Alone. I staggered, desperately trying to locate him. I wandered for
about what felt like an eternity, then suddenly, a deep roar filled
the air. I smiled thinking that Edward had come back for me. Instead,
Laurent stood there. Eyes as red as blood. He pounced suddenly, and
all I felt was a sharp, burning pain."No!"
I sat, more like shot, upright. Sweat trickled down my brow and my
breathing was unsteady. Cold hands were around my shoulders before I
could register anything.
"Get off of me!" I screamed loudly.
It's a wonder Charlie didn't bust into my room.
"Bella,
Bella it's me. Please calm down. Shh-" He had scooped me into his
lap, slowly rocking me back and forth. He moved the hair out of my
face.
"Oh Edward," It sounded more like a plea than anything
else.
"Everything is okay, I'm here." I looked at him, he
was wearing dark jeans and a dark blue v-neck sweater; he had
changed.
"You left me?"
"You were sleeping very soundly
when I left, that's why I left. I swear to you I was only gone for
a few minutes. When I returned I knew you were okay, you were calling
my name, just like you always do. I don't know what happened
though. About ten minutes ago you seemed to get restless, more than
usual. As hard as it was to sit through, I didn't want to hold you,
Carlisle says shocking someone who is having a nightmare can be very
dangerous." My breathing had slowly returned to its normal pace.
"I'm sorry. But I'm okay now. What time is it."
"It's
a little past three, love. Do you want to tell me what the nightmare
was about?" I answered quickly, "No. It's not important. But
may you please hold me, at least until I go back to sleep?" He rose
from the chair across the room and climbed into my bed. He kissed my
forehead and helped my back under my covers. "Bella, I would do
anything for you. Sleep well my angel; know that I will always be
here to fight your demons away, now and forever." Finally, I fell
back asleep, feeling more secure than ever.
