- Chapter One – The First Year-
Hello Readers. My name is Edward Elric. I suppose you are here to read about my childhood. I will tell you about my life, up until I got my mother died. I don't remember much from when I was young, like, really young, but I'll do my best.
~Year: 1900~
When I was one, I was just an ordinary child. I cried sometimes, laughed, played, and crapped myself. My mom seemed really happy judging by all the pictures I've seen, but I don't remember too much. (A.N: This chapter will probably be really boring, but I guarantee some funny parts throughout the series.)
I remember one day, I was playing with a little horse doll when my mom and dad came up to me, and my dad had his arm around mom.
"Ed," my mom says. "You're going to have a brother" she smiles at me.
"A bruhder?" I reply, as I cannot yet properly speak.
"Yes, honey." I just stare at her, trying to think of what it would be like. My dad picks me up and laughs a little. Mom strokes my hair while I'm in his arms, as I still try to process what is happening. I remain silent as my mind still races. I had not even turned one yet. (A.N: Yes, I know it's very unrealistic for someone to remember what happened before they turn one. But this is my first fanfiction, so no flames please) In fact, my birthday was coming up in a month.
~About a Month Later~
"Happy birthday, Edward!" my mom says. My dad laughs to himself.
"You're one year old now, my boy!" He says, lifting me up.
"Yay! My birfday!" I exclaim, laughing. I was laughing so hard, in fact, that I took a dump in my diaper. I giggle.
"Haha, looks like we'll have to clean you up first!" said mom. After being changed, dad invites Winry, her parents, and Granny over to celebrate. Winry had already turned one two months ago, so we were roughly the same age. They all came over and celebrated my birthday, but I don't remember the party very well. But I do remember the feeling of happiness.
~Eight Months Later~
I wake up, crying in my crib. Normally mother would come in as soon as I start crying, but no one comes. After a moment of examination, I unlatch my crib door and climb out. My mother's room is empty. I silently creep into the living room, to find that Granny Pinako is sleeping on the couch. Great. She sleeps like a rock. I crawl back into my crib using the door as a ramp. I am not quite strong enough to lift the gate back up, so I just give up and fall asleep again.
Though my memory is blurry, I remember later that day visiting mom in the hospital, and, more importantly, meeting my new brother, Alphonse. I attempt to talk to him and play with him as he sits on mom's lap, but to my surprise, he remained silent and just looked at me. Mom explains that Al was too young to speak or understand what was going on. I was very confused, trying to let what mom said sink in as she ruffles my hair.
