Hiya guys! Applaudissement Sonique here. Sorry I haven't been sighted here for a while! I had finals for my first year of high school and plus I had been busy playing the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata (which I'm so close to finishing).
There's a song I have on my iPod called "Octavarium" by Dream Theater, which is split up into five "sub-songs". The whole song itself is 24 minutes long (holy crap!). I noticed how closely I can relate each sub-song to a specific topic in Eternal Sonata, so I thought I'd give it a shot and try to create one-shots based on the lyrics of each part. Plus each of the movements are told in a different character's point of view.
I now give you the first movement of "Octavarium", which is Someone Like Him!
Disclaimer: Eternal Sonata belongs to Namco-Bandai and Tri-Crescendo. "Octavarium" belongs to Dream Theater. None of these are mine.
The rating for Someone Like Him is K+.
Warning: SPOILERS
I. Someone Like Him
Frederic never wanted to be like anyone else that trekked with him on his journey.
He figured that it would only be as futile as trying to grasp fog near a lake or an ocean. These people were imaginary, for God's sake, partaking in a fictional skit that he was part
of. They would never change - in fact, he could easily manipulate any given person to do exactly what he wanted.
Since he was also cursed with a nearing death, Frederic didn't want to waste any time that he had left being anyone in his group.
Thus, from the very beginning, Frederic vowed never to change himself or his views. No matter how much his comrades thought of his dream as the real world, the composer sure wasn't going to buy any of it.
That's how Frederic carried out his journey - he kept true to his mind and was easily sought out as the "unique" person of the gang.
However, as time went on, Frederic began to think that the thought of the fictional world was wrong. But every time the thought strayed into his mind, he shook it away.
"Don't you get it?!" he recalled Viola asking him in the Double Reed Towers. "Reality is what you open your eyes to, wherever you are!"
It was then that he decided to turn his back to his companions and betray them that he was 100 percent certain that he was proven wrong. As his remaining energy was drained out from his weakening body after he was defeated, he thought to himself, Look how foolish I am. I rejected everything that was given to me.
Suddenly he wanted to change everything he thought, to take back whatever he had perceived, because it was the only thing he wanted now. It was at that moment that he realized that he made the wrong choice.
Frederic's dream was his new reality after all, and he needed to live out his new life in his dream to the fullest.
Sorry if the words don't flow as smoothly as most of my other pieces. It's 3 am here and I need some sleep. =__= lol. This may also be the shortest piece I wrote since my very first one that was posted here. Rate, review, and subscribe so I can show you more of the wonderful song! :D
