Eldest Born
Eldest born, the elder was
Better than his mate:
The curse-ed one, the stolen one
The younger, youngest born.
Eldest born, the elder was
The greatest of the land:
Best fighter, slayer, conqueror,
The best there ever was.
Eldest born, the elder was
Innocent and foolish enough
To think himself safe…
Oh, Riders do breed true.
Eldest born, the elder was
Far superior
To any who dared to try
To think to test his strength.
Eldest born, the elder was
Run away in fear.
But so much like his father true,
The Eldest marched on home.
Eldest born, the elder was
But only tempted once,
And bested, by failed oversight
That brought the Eldest down.
But Eldest born, the elder was
Determined still, and true:
Has all but slain the younger one;
His heart hurts more than head.
Eldest born, the Eldest brings
Home inheritance
And with a once famil'r face
He steals the youngest's soul
Eldest born, the Eldest is
Born of his father's will…
And someday soon the Eldest will
Bring the youngest home to me.
