I woke up to see a bunch of creepy little people wearing stupid hats grinning at me.
"Where am I?!" I blurted out, sitting up.
"You're in Oz," a little person with dark hair and a red cone-shaped hat said. "Welcome, strange person!"
"Me? I'm strange? At least I don't wear weird triangle hats," I retorted. "And at least I'm not...like...two feet tall." I stood up, towering over the rest of them.
"How dare you insult Travis!" another midget with sandy hair and freckles squeaked, putting an arm around the dark-haired dwarf Travis. "He will pickpocket you!"
I turned around to find another midget who looked exactly like Travis stealing something from my jean pocket. "Hey!" I looked from Travis to the dwarf who was stealing Riptide, my pen/sword/pocket buddy. "Wait...how..."
"That's Connor," Travis explained. Connor grinned, but looked shocked when Riptide disappeared from his grasp. I felt my weapon reappear in my pocket. "We're twins. He's the shorter and stupider one."
"What are you?" I asked.
The midget with sandy hair and freckles bowed. "We are munchkins of Oz! My name is Will. And we would like to thank you for killing the Wicked Witch of the East! To reward you, you can wear her shoes!"
"What? I didn't kill anyone!" I protested. Besides a Minotaur, Medusa, and a ton of other monsters...
"Your house did," Will explained, pointing. I turned around.
The Poseidon cabin was standing there. One of its windows was shattered.
"So?"
"Look underneath." I did. What I saw almost made me gag.
A pair of legs was sticking out from the bottom of the cabin. The person must've been squashed flat.
"Oh," I said in a small voice.
"I think this merits a song!" Will shouted.
Suddenly, all the munchkins began singing. Travis pulled out a kazoo and began blowing. Will clapped his hands to the beat.
"I don't get it," I said, staring at the musical munchkins.
"Our hero came from the sky;
Came down and killed the witch;
No, no, oh my!"
"Hey, hey, I'm not like, a hero or anything," I said, waving my hands.
Connor stared at me. "Of course. We weren't singing about you. We were singing about the house."
"Well, it's not really a house-"
Suddenly, a red-haired munchkin froze. "Will!"
"What is it, Rachel?" Will asked, looking worried.
"The Wicked Witch of the West. Drew. She's coming for the shoes!"
"Get them on the stranger," Will said, pointing at me.
"I have a name," I said. "It's Percy."
"Get them on Percy!"
The munchkins began pulling the shoes off of the dead person. They presented them to me.
"Hey, what, you want me to wear her shoes?" I eyed the ruby-red sparkly high heels. "That's sick! Who would wear a dead person's shoes? And not only that, I'm a guy. I'm not going to wear high heels-"
But they weren't listening to me. They pulled off my sneakers and jammed the witch's shoes onto my feet.
I tried to pull them off, but couldn't.
"You can't take them off!" Rachel said. "I put an enchantment on them."
"What! When will it wear off?!"
She gave me a creepy smile. "Never."
