A/N Just a little something I had to write for English class. It's my first ever poem, and it was quite hard to write since I think I have an aversion to rhyming words. Plus it had to have an actual rhyme scheme, meter, and feet. But read and enjoy!

Victory

John 12:24 - "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." (NIV)

A choking darkness closes in

The roiling, boiling clouds begin

To crash and flash and dash the hope

Of weeping friends flocked on the slope

His brow stained crimson as the clouds

That churn above, a scarlet shroud

His body, battered, bruised, and torn

Like rocks below heaved in the storm

The jeering, sneering swarm spews scorn

While scattered allies wail and mourn

But in the Temple, torn in twain

The holy veil gives worth to pain

Then early on that Easter morn

They find their hope has been reborn

He gave His life that we might live

He came to earth His life to give

Up from the grave did Christ arise

Defeat is triumph in disguise!
