Title: Dreaming
Life never seemed to be normal for Yuzu Hiragi these days.
First, she almost fell off a tower.
Then, they were stuck in this candy-land.
And now, when she was just about to start kicking Shingo's sorry ass, some masked duelist decided to butt in and do it himself.
Rude much.
"I don't want you to get hurt anymore..."
But that line replayed itself in her mind all that night, and Yuzu didn't know why.
That intensity in his eyes. Even with the goggles on, she could see it.
Was he that intent on protecting her...?
Yuzu shook her head and flopped onto the pillow, hoping to get some sleep.
But the mysterious boy was still on her mind.
Who is he?, she thought as she went to bed, not noticing the soft glow of her bracelet.
Yuzu woke up in a strange place. That's odd, she thought. I was in my bedroom yesterday.
The teen looked looked around for any signs of life.
There was nothing; only different shades of purple as far as she could see.
"So we meet again."
Yuzu gasped and turned around to see the mysterious boy from before.
He was leaning against a tall pillar, watching her closely.
Yuzu held up her paper fan (she always has it in case of emergencies) and slowly approached the Dark Duelist.
"Okay, who are you?" she asked, surprised to find her voice shaking a bit.
The boy chuckled.
"What's so funny?" Yuzu asked irritably.
His smirk was evident even behind the mask.
"Nothing," he finally said. "Just your inability to recognize me, Yuzu."
Yuzu scowled and attacked him with her paper fan, which he dodged.
"Why did you decide to hog the duel when I was perfectly able to kick his ass?" she yelled.
The Dark Duelist turned serious.
"I told you," he said, "I don't want you getting hurt anymore."
"When did you see me get hurt?!"
He remained silent.
"Well?!" Yuzu asked impatiently.
"I can't reveal too much information," the Dark Duelist said. "I'll tell you when the time is right."
"But-"
"You should go home now."
"Do I look like Bella Swan to you?!"
"Who...?"
There was a call of Yuzu's name.
Yuzu looked back to see where the sound was coming from, but when she turned back, the Dark Duelist was gone and she was back in her bed.
As Yuzu was getting ready for school that morning, she noticed a piece of paper on her desk.
She picked it up and read it:
"To Yuzu
Duel me outside the Maiami Bridge tomorrow at 5pm. You will find all the answers you seek in our match.
I shall not reveal my name just yet, but feel free to call me 'Kuro'.
The Dark Duelist"
Yuzu slowly folded the note. Outside Maiami Bridge, huh...?
"Dad, I'm gonna be late coming home from school tomorrow."
