The darkness of the skies was fading to their lighter counterpart. The sun was beginning to peak through the borders of the horizon.

Leaning against the wall, I watched as shadows of the night began to fade, the rays of the sun illuminating the structures and courtyards of Soul Society. It was certainly very peaceful to watch.

A groan beside me broke the silence.

Usually bound wild red locks laid fanned out on the bed underneath him as he ever so slowly drifted into consciousness. A single dark eye opened, squinting at the rays that entered the room before he shifted around the bed.

I smiled a little.

In his attempt to fall back to sleep, his head wandered to my lap, intricately tattooed arms wrapped around my legs. Unable to help myself, I ran my fingers through his blood colored hair which was softer than one would think.

"It's time to get up."

The man clutching my lower half groaned.

"5 more minutes." I rolled my dark eyes at his typical response.

"Don't complain if Byakuya-kun kicks your butt for being late…again."

The 6th Division vice-captain finally opened his eyes with a disgruntled expression. "Why you gotta bring him up so early?"

I merely grinned. With a faltering look, the redhead sighed before rolling out of bed, the same tattooed arms stretched over his head. I bit my lip as the broad muscles in his shoulders and back rippled from the release of tension.

The Shinigami slowly rounded to my side of the bed and I rose to meet him. Calloused hands pressed against the side of my neck. Slightly dry lips pressed against mine, sending that familiar shiver down my spine. They moved in a hungry manner with me barely keeping up.

I held onto Renji's arms when fresh air finally entered my lungs.

"What was that for?" An unfamiliar expression crossed his face but the ever brash redhead shook it off.

"Don't know what 'cha talkin' about…"

I merely tilted my head. It must've been a guy thing. Sliding my arms over Renji's shoulders, I leaned in and rested against the muscled man. Warm arms wrapped my waist, holding my closer. Everything was going to be alright...as long as Renji was by my side.

The only thing that ruined the moment was the black butterfly Byakuya sent since Renji was late…again.
