This was written per request on my Tumblr, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. haha!

It was another dark and dreary night in the castle at Brennenburg. How long had it been since you were created to roam these dreadful halls? Every night was the same as the last; pacing the floors, calling out, hoping that someone or something would return an answer. There was nothing special about this particular night, you thought to yourself as you slowly walked down another winding hallway. Just another hopeless night. You let out a heavy sigh as you are about to turn a corner.

Usually the sounds accompanying you on your patrols are limited to just the rats scurrying about the floor, or perhaps some creaking wood or dripping water. But this, this sound was something completely different. You stopped dead in your tracks as you listened to the frantic running of something that sounded smaller than you, yet bigger than any rat you've encountered. The sound of the running was joined by heavy panting. What could this be?

You slowly peek your head around the corner and see the shadowy figure running down the dark hall, away from you. You tilt your head in interest and slowly maneuver around the corner and begin following the strange creature. Having roamed these halls a dozen times, you know every shortcut and where every hall leads. You quickly figure out where the hall will lead out, and decide to opt for a faster route. You want to make sure you get a good look at this thing before it has a chance to run off again.

You emerge from behind a giant wine keg. The hall the creature has been traveling should lead it right out in the middle of the wine cellar, unless of course it turned around. You patiently wait in the shadows of the keg for the figure to emerge. It feels like you've been holding your breath in anticipation, you feel your eyes grow wider, trying to take in the entire room while still focusing on the doorway. What are these feelings, you wonder. You've never really felt anything before, aside from the usual emptiness.

All of a sudden, you hear the door slowly creak open and all of your thoughts fly right out of your head. You squint to try and make out the figure slowly creeping through the doorway. It's holding a lantern, illuminating it's face. You can now make out that he is a man. He looks scared, and very worn out. You wonder how, and why he ended up in the dreadful place. You start to feel those strange feelings again. The feelings start in your chest, making it feel as if someone is sitting on it. They then begin to travel down into the pit of your stomach, making you feel as if something is living and moving about in there. What is happening?

You decide that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you want to know what all of these new emotions mean, so you slowly come out from behind the keg and start to make your way towards the man. As you get closer, the man quickly turns around, shining his lantern in your direction. A sound escapes from your mouth as you are surprised to have a light shining in your face. The man's facial features slowly contort as his eyes grow wide with fear and the corners of his mouth turn downward as his mouth opens and begins to let out a scream.

You panic and try and cover the man's mouth. No one can know he's down here. If your master finds out, he's done for. You want to protect this man, as you feel a strange connection with him. You quickly drag him off into the darkness.

When you feel you are finally safe, you remove your claws from the man's body and look down at him. He looks wet, the light from his lantern reflecting off his face and clothes. You don't recall moving through any water. You look down at your claws, stained with red. What have you done.
