Possible last scene of the thrid saeson between Kate and Rick. I don't own the characters but I'm forever gratefull to AM for creating them so I can play with them a little bit. I hope it's not too cheesy and I hope you'll forgive me any mistakes I made with the grammer or otherwise.

Last scene 3x24
Kate's apartment
Kate puts away the things of her home made murder board. She also has packed already two bags, standing in the living room, a black leather jacket and a motorcycle helmet next to them on the couch. Someone knocks on her door, she opens it to Castle.
Castle: Hey.
Kate: Hey.
Castle is nervous.
Castle: Montgomery told me you handed in your resignation.
Kate [not looking in his eyes]: Yeah. [she looks up] But he didn't accepted it. He told me to take a leave of absence.
They stand there for a moment, then Kate steps aside, indicating that he should come in. Castle sees the bags, the jacket and the helmet.
Castle: What will you do?
Kate [shrugs]: I don't know. Spending some time with my dad, maybe do some traveling. [she pauses] You know, I should be relieved and happy that the case is finally solved but somehow… [she doesn't know how to put it in words]
Castle: …somehow you're just confused.
Kate: Yes.
Castle: What does Josh say about it?
Kate [uncomfortable]: Ehm, we broke up. It just didn't work out, I can't expect him to give up who he is and he deserves someone who is actually in love with him.
Castle looks at her, he swallows. They lock eyes. Then they break the contact and go to the open murder board. There is just the picture of Kate's mom and the necklaces with her ring left. Kate takes the picture and puts it away.
Castle: May I…? [he points at the necklace]
Kate: Yes.
Castle takes the necklace, Kate turns around so he can fasten the necklace around her neck. They both stop breathing for a moment.
Castle: I care about you, Kate.
She turns around, watching him.
Kate: I know, I care for you too. [she swallows, still looking at him, a smile appears on her face] A part of me just wants to grab your hand and jump.
Castle: I'll catch you.
Kate: I know you will. [she takes a small step away] But I have to do this alone, I have to sort this out for myself.
Castle: I understand.
His phone rings, he lets it go to the voicemail.
Castle: Sorry, it was Alexis, I'll have to go. We're going up in the Hamptons. I wanted to invite you.
Kate smiles a little sad.
Kate: Sorry, I promised my dad, I'll spent the weekend with him.
Castle [hopefully]: You could come both?
Kate shakes her head, regretful.
Kate: I don't think we would be good company right now.
Castle: We wouldn't mind.
Kate [smiling]: I would.
Castle smiles too and turns around to leave.
Kate: Hey, Castle!
He turns back and she tosses him a key.
Kate: Take care of my plants until I'll come back, will you?
Castle: I'll try not to murder them. [he get serious again.] You'll call if you need anything?
Kate: I will.
