I had always loved penguins as a little girl. Something about the way they waddled to and fro made them adorable to me. Some of my favorite memories as a child were of my trips to the zoo with my parents to see the penguins. I still loved penguins, even as my life became cluttered with magical happenings and fighting the dark arts. Because of this I had not been to see penguins for eight years.

I felt the tickle of soft lips against my ear, and heard Ron's quiet voice, "What are you thinking about Hermione?"

I smiled, and shifted to look up at him.

"Penguins," I stated simply.

Ron looked at me in confusion. At first I thought he was just confused as to why I was thinking about them, but then it dawned on me that Ron had grown up in the magical world, and might not know what penguins were. This left me a bit dumbfounded, but it was also a little amusing. My smile widened as I said, "don't tell me you don't know what penguins are?"

He shook his head no, confirming my conclusion. I chuckled softly and shook my head.

Ron still looked confused, "But what are they?" he asked me.

"They're a type of muggle animals that live in the South Pole and waddle around—"

But Ron cut me off, "You never told me you've been to the South Pole!"

I shook my head again laughing quietly, "I haven't been to the South Pole, Ron! I saw them at a zoo."

"Whats a—"

"Its muggle place where they keep all sorts of muggle animals."

Ron still looked a little baffled at the idea of a zoo, and was probably about to ask another question about them, but suddenly I had an idea.

"Ron!" I exclaimed, "how about I just take you to a zoo! Then you can see for yourself what they're like. I haven't been to one in ages, I'd love to see some penguins again."

At this Ron grinned, "Cool!"

I grabbed onto his arm and thought hard of the muggle zoo I had visited as a child. With a sudden 'pop' we left The Burrow, and appeared at the entrance to the zoo. It was crammed with muggles, and there were shouts and children's laughter coming from all over. Ron's eyes were wide as he started taking this all in.

"Wow!" he said, "this is so weird! There are so many muggles!"

I smiled to myself as I dragged him toward the ticket line. Once we were in the zoo I made a beeline to the penguin's exhibit. Soon, we left the bright sunlight and descended into the dark room where the penguins dwelled. I looked at the other side of the glass, and saw tons of penguins waddling on their fake snow, and swiftly swimming through the ice cold water. I turned to see Ron's reaction. He was gaping at the penguins as if he'd never seen anything like them before. I suppose he hadn't, which was strange to think about.

"Wow Hermione!" he said to me, "look at them! They look so funny when they waddle! And look at them swim! I've never seen anything like it!"

A few people looked at him a little strangely, but I just smiled up at him.

"Yes, they are quite magnificent," I said as I put my arms around his neck.

"I can see why you like them so much," Ron agreed, and he smiled down at me, putting his arms around my waist. He leaned down to press his lips against mine.

I melted against him, and we stood there, kissing, for who knows how long, until some angry parent came up to us and screamed, "You know, this is a public place! There are children present!"

I broke away from him and he grinned down at me, grabbing my hand and leading me out of the exhibit. And I have to say, that was my best trip to the zoo I've ever had.
