"Oh, but I can lie, just like you, Gill. If necessary, I can even destroy my own brothers... I finally have that evil heart you always wanted me to have. But it's made me stronger. It has made me stronger because I don't want to give in to it."
"Huh?" He sat up with a groan, bringing a hand up to bury it in the tuft of abundant chestnut hair that flopped in his face. "Wh– Rei?" Round dark eyes widened further, giving him the appearance of a startled fish, the comical impression furthered by his incoherent sputters.
Deep amber eyes slowly cracked open. His companion roused, movements far more smooth and deliberate as he peered out from beneath the golden-brown mane that jettisoned over his eyes. The piercing eyes flashed, narrowing as they settled on the boy next to him. "Ichiro?"
The other jerked his head from side to side, eyes darting like those of a trapped animal, utter bewilderment clearly visible in every line of the usually confident demeanor. "What the hell?! You… I… how?"
The lighter-haired boy also known as Rei lowered his head so his face was almost completely hidden by his mane, tucking his chin securely into the high collar of his yellow jacket. His unease showed only in the tautness with which he held his slender shoulders. "My thoughts exactly."

A/N: Yep, this is post-series. *evil cackle* This idea's been brewing in my brain for a while now, and it finally crystallized. The title'll make sense later. Also, I do have a somewhat scientific explanation for all this. ^-^ Yuppers, I do. Oh, yeah, the quote at the beginning is Jiro, o' course, and all thanks to Aree. ^-^ Thankee much! Sooo… I present to you, my brand new, multi-chapter Kikaider fic! Hey, d'you guys think I should cut back on the description? I was originally intending on this tidbit being all dialogue, but my muse was uncomfortable with the concept... I'm planning on this being fairly angsty, but when Ichiro is involved, things tend to veer off-course faster'n a busted racecar. Need constructive criticsm much. ^.~ I dunno how fast I'm gonna update, it depends on inspiration. Review, and mayhap that'll kick me writing faculties into higher gear. ^-~
