Monsters Under The Bed

She pulls the blankets up over her head, shivering slightly. The darkness around the room seems to be growing darker, almost making it impossible to breathe. She let's out a tiny, shuddering gasp and shakes her head, wrapping her arms tighter around her knees.

"I'm not scared. I'm not scared. I'm not scared."

She repeats the words over and over again, willing them to be real, knowing that they're not. She knows there's nothing in the closet, nothing under the bed, nothing sitting outside her window...

With a little gasp and squeak, she jumps from the bed, darting across the cold floorboard as quickly and as lightly as the agile spider she is. She flings open the door and moves quickly along the corridor. She reaches his room and hesitates for a simple second - but one quick glance around the terrifyingly dark hallway and she opens the door and slips inside.

"Clint?" She whispers fearfully into the darkened room.

"Nat? Why're you still awake?" He murmurs tiredly.

"I couldn't sleep."

She moves forward, almost stumbling until she finally reaches his bed. She pauses, running a hand through her long red hair, sniffing slightly.

"Well come here. You can sleep in here tonight." He offers.

She climbs hastily into his bed and crawls over to pull him in for a cuddle. He's warm and his presence is comforting, more so then she'd ever admit. She thanks his quietly. holding onto him tightly. Soon enough, without realising it, she finds herself falling into a deep, dreamless sleep.
