"The boys in this town think they're real hot shit, but us girls can handle our own too," Angela said
making me smirk as I looked up from lighting my cigarette and nodded my agreement.
Ang had a big mouth, but she could back it pretty well. And guaranteed what she couldn't back, Tim or Curly sure as hell could. Me personally, I learned that the quietest ones were the most dangerous. I'd seen Dallas knock a man out cold, going from a cocky smirking bastard to a mean son of a bitch who meant business. Tim was the same way though, he never had
to raise his voice to let you know just how pissed he was. I guess that was what made them two of a kind.
"The girls here don't' help it none fawning all over them and opening their legs for any greasy hood with a rep," Si Si said scowling as I nodded feeling pity.
She' d never really come to grips with the fact that our sister was one of those girl, but Id' been forced to from an early age being the sister who favored her most. Dyeing her hair blonde had been the best thing she'd ever done for me. I didn't fancy being mistaken for her when we were nothing alike aside from our face and frame.
" No use being sore over things we can't do nothing about," Dee said shaking her head as I inclined my head moving away from the fence now that my cig was going strong. She didn't' have as bad as me and Si Si everyone knew even though Evie and Steve were off
and on like a light switch they loved the hell out of each other.
"Come on guys let's go pick up Gracie and head over to the Daily," I said turning off of Brook man St. Most guys around here hung together tight like a gang without the fights
Just a crew that was down for each other, us girls had the same thing. We'd all grown up together, and despite all the changes remained friends. I'd gotten into more fights for them more times than I could count on my finger. But Ang always put me up in the house when the old man was laying in on us when we were younger and now when my mom was boozing and whoring so much I couldn't stand to be there. I knew why Evie was such
a bitch, trying to make herself feel like she had an edge over Steve so he'd never treat her like shit the way her Father did her Mother, or why Gracie could barley stand to look at Sandy sometimes despite the fact that everyone just loved her to death.
They knew Id' do anything to help Si SI hold on to the innocence she'd always possessed, and I that I loved Syl as much as I Hated her.
The shitty thing about living in a small town like Tulsa was one bad apple did spoil the whole bunch in the eyes of others. We were always getting shit from guys thinking we'd lie down and spread our legs for anything with a decent rep and a nice body because of Sylvia. Wrapping an arm around my baby sister I tugged on her ponytail playfully easing off when she cracked a smile. You get too down in this neighborhood and you'd sink into a hole that was hard to dig yourself out of.
"So who you got your eye on tonight Ang, I know you aint just agreed to go the daily on a Friday night for kicks," Dee said making me chuckle as Si SI broke in to giggles and Ang grinned slyly. She was loose, but freely admitted it. NO use in trying to hide what you were unless you were ashamed of it. Which Angela wasn't.
"Kid from my brothers set named T.J., he's a hood and a half, but that body and that face are to die for," She said sighing as we shook our heads and continued our walk to Gracie's. It was another Friday night in Tulsa.
