One Last Time
Dear Fred,
It's me, George. Mum dragged me too some idiotic therapist. Her name is Sarah. She wants me to write in this stupid journal she gave me. I don't know if it'll help, but here goes.
I miss you so much, Fred. After you died, mum stopped smiling. She spent hours in her room crying. I did pretty much the same thing. Bill and Charlie were too miserable to mock me when I sobbed hysterically for no apparent reason. They miss you an all, but it's different. They don't know what it's like to lose their best friend, brother, other half…
Merlin I miss you.
It's been a week since the Battle. Seven days since Harry defeated Voldemort. 10,080 minutes since mum killed Bellatrix. 604,800 seconds since your death.
Help me, Fred. I can't do this. The funeral is tomorrow. I know I won't be able to make it. I'm supposed to get up in front of everybody and tell them what a great wizard you were, and I just can't do that. You understand, right? I can't get up in front of everyone and tell them what a great wizard you were because you're still alive. You're not dead.
You're just sleeping. Waiting until mum tells you to wake up.
That's all. I don't know why the others think you're dead. Don't they have any faith in you? They just don't want to believe that they were wrong. You can't die. You're still alive. You're forever young. Remember that Muggle song? It went like this:
"Forever young, I want to be forever young.
Do you really want to live forever? Forever and ever…"
Remember it, Freddie? You know it! Sing with me!
"Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while.
Heaven can wait were only watching the skies.
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?"
Come on, Fred! This was our song. Don't you remember it? Why can't I hear you? Is my ear messed up? Am I losing hearing? Merlin, please not my hearing! How else will I hear Fred singing?
How else will I know that he's still there?
Fred?
Freddie?
Are you still there? Can you hear me? Please, Fred, answer me! Please!
I love you. Please come back. I need you here with me. I need you so badly right now. I want to hear your voice again.
Just one last time.
-George
