"Look at the sunset, Other Me."

A grunt was all he got in reply, and Malik sighed, lavender eyes turning to flick over to the brooding darker half of his before settling once again on the bright red and gold sunset. Streaks of blazing bright orange were spread across the sky, staining clouds pink and yellow. Combined, the sky was dazzlingly blinding. Malik leaned on the steel railing of the balcony/veranda of their house, watching the sun sink ever so slowly. Blue was seeping into the sky once more, and light lavender followed soon after. Malik chuckled half-heartedly in attempt to get the other self talking.

"Look, Other Me. The sky's like our eyes now." Malik looked back to see the darker self's reaction. The spiky-haired teen looked up from where he was sitting against to wall and glanced at the sky. "Nice," was all he said before he went back to studying the palms of his hands. Malik growled, then turning towards the sunset once more, he spat out. "Then why are you still out here if you're not going to see the sunset?"

There was silence. Malik stared hard at the blazing sun until his eyes watered. There was only a few centimetres of the sun left when his dark self said, so softly that the Egyptian teen almost thought that he imagined it.

"..I'm waiting." "For what?" "....."

He didn't answer. Curious, Malik looked away from the sunset to glance at his darker self. He was watching him, the eyes the colour of the sky. Dusky lavender. His lips twitched, the usual smirk on it gone without trace.

"For the sun to come up again. For the light.... for my light." He added on absently, as if he had forgotten everything. He sometimes did.

The spiky-haired dark self looked up at Malik, framed by the shades of blue, lavender, and fading orange. His eyes were wide, like a child's. "The sun is setting." "I know."

The darker self's lips moved again, but Malik barely caught the words "darkness" and "can't". The dark self patted the ground next to him, timidly. His voice was hesitant. "Come and sit beside me...?"

Wordlessly, Malik detached himself from the railing and settled beside his other self. They sat there, content with only the heat radiating from each other's body, and watched the sun go down, slowly but surely, taking more and more light away from the darkening sky. As the sun disappeared across the horizon, Malik felt his other self shiver.

"Other Me?" He whispered. "Yeah?" "There's nothing to be afraid of darkness. Because soon, there will be a light to save you." "My light." Malik smiled a little. "Yes, your light."

They had not sat there long when the silver-golden moon appeared right where the sun has set just before, spraying glittery light on the sky. The darker half relaxed slightly.

"Hey Other Me," "Yes?" "Will you...will you save me from the darkness?" Malik looked at his other half, a smile curving his lips. "Of course."

"Will you.. be my light?" "..Other Me," said Malik as he stood up. He looked down at the spiky-haired other self with an outstretched hand.

"Let's go in now." "..Okay."
