a little bit more

Secretly –

Blaise hates his mother.

He may be proud of being sneaky and smart and oh so Slytherin, but he is not proud of the accusations or glares or reputations that come with it. He's no murderer – and although he's not the nicest bloke around, he's usually alone, that doesn't mean he practices Dark magic or that his father's a Death Eater; and he doesn't even know the truth about that last one, but maybe that's okay.

His mother, on the other hand, excels in her role as an actress, sending stunning smiles at every man who catches her eye, winking and fooling them into thinking that she has good intentions at heart, that she has a heart, when Blaise knows it's black as coal, because those smiles are deadly and those winks make them catch their breath because they really can't believe anyone could be so terrifying.

She's the murderer.

Blaise is sure of it. When it happens, he comes home to find her faking tears and richer than she was when he left her last – and he feels nothing but disgust and she pulls him tight against her and apologizes and sobs into his shoulder.

He pretends he's not affected by their deaths, but really, he is. Because deep down, all he's ever wanted is a stable father figure, someone to go to who won't judge him like his mother does, yet she seems to think she can replace that with bad lies and money. And Blaise pretends that she can.

And then he wonders –

Is it so much to give just a little bit more?

If she loved him enough, would she try harder?

And she's not the only one acting.

A/N: For Amy is Rockin's Secrets Competition. I know, I know, this is crap, I hate it, it sucks, I didn't do Blaise right and he's totally out of character - don't kill me. I cannot write Slytherins at ALL. But it was random and I already changed once, so... yeah.

If you're going to review, try to make it nice. I already know this is horrible... :P But if you have something nice to say, get on it!

Even if you don't, thanks for reading this piece of crap. :/
