Making a Choice

I was racing through the forest. " I have to get to the border before any cat sees me", I thought to myself. I stopped when I caught the fresh scent of a mouse. I tracked the mouse down and ended the kill with a perfect pounce. I smiled, picked up the mouse, and carried on. I stopped when I saw the familiar ginger pelt of Oakheart, the cat that I loved. " Oakheart", I yowled happily. I ran up to him, dropped the mouse, and licked his ear.

" I have missed you Bluefur", he said gently.

" There is something that I must tell you", I said in a serious tone. " Oakheart, I am having kits", I said slowly, looking for an expression change on Oakheart's face. Oakheart just stood there, a blank expression on his ginger face. Then he licked my ear and said " What are we going to do?"

" You need to take the kits to Riverclan", I said, having to choke back tears.

" But they are Thunderclan kits", he said sadly.

" Are deputy, Tawnyspots, is getting old and is about to retire", I said, tears falling from my eyes. " Thistleclaw is going to destroy the clan if he becomes deputy, so I must become deputy, I'm sorry", I said, crying.

" I understand, loyalty to your clan means more than anything", Oakheart said sadly.

" I will bring the kits to the border when they are old enough", I said, chokeing out every word. And with that, I gave Oakheart one lats lick on the ear and turned my back on Oakheart, the cat that I loved.

A few days later Tawnyspots retired, and I became deputy. I gave birth to three kits, and then took them to Oakheart, but on the way my precious little Mosskit died. Oakheart took them, and now they are Mistyfoot and Stonefur, two brave warriors of Riverclan. But I can't help but think, what would have happend if I never gave up the kits? Every day I ask myself that question, but one thing is for certin, if I hadn't gave up the kits, I would never have became Bluesar, the leader of Thunderclan.
