Sakura was sitting on a bench in the penguin park. It was dark now and getting colder. She was only wearing a pale blue spaghetti strap dress which reached just above her knee. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself, as a few tears rolled down her cheeks. It wasn't really the fact that Akashi said no when she asked him out. To be honest she didn't even feel that much for him. She certainly didn't care about him the most. But…….he reminded her of Syaoran. And it was more what reason he gave for rejecting her that was making her cry.
She felt a soft hand on her shoulder and turned around to she amber eyes staring at her. She stood up and without thinking buried her face in Syaoran's chest.
He gently wrapped his arms around her. He was struggling seeing her like this, but didn't know what to say to help. "Sakura……what's wrong?"
She stood back from him and spoke quietly
"I asked out Akashi"
Syaoran's breath hitched in his throat.
"He said no"
He breathed out. He knew it was wrong to feel happy about him rejecting her but he just couldn't deal with the idea of her with someone else.
"He said……" she stopped and turned around so he wouldn't see the new tears forming in her eyes
"He said I was clumsy and childish and dense, all those thing are true aren't they?"
He paused for a bit not knowing how to answer that. He couldn't lie to her, but he didn't want to hurt her anymore either. He stood and walked to her.
"Honestly….,"she looked up at him, "yes."
Her eyes quickly widened in horror, but before she could turn away he griped her shoulders with both hands and quickly continued.
"But that's what makes you so loveable! Plus you so beautiful, you always think of others before yourself, you try so hard at everything you do, your so cute when your confused, you NEVER give up, you are the most incredible person I've ever met!"
He took Sakura's stunned silence as an invitation to continue. He held her face gently in his hands and stared into her eyes.
"That guy is crazy, Sakura, I don't understand how he can look into your eyes and not fall in love with you."
Her eyes became even wider and her breathing hitched. Syaoran realised what he said and what he had implied and looked just as shocked as she did.
"Ummm….Syaoran….. Do you?" Sakura struggled to put words together.
"I….."
Syaoran was unable to finish his sentence while staring into her eyes, he tried to turn away but could bring himself to do it. Looking back into his eyes, everything suddenly made sense to Sakura, why he was always there to help her and protect her, why he didn't go home after the Clow Cards were captured, why he was so jealous of Eriol, why he blushed around her, and he didn't need to say it because looking into his eyes staring strait back at her with that look, she just knew.
After a few short seconds, before he knew what was happening, Sakura had closed the gap between them and softly pressed her lips against his. Pausing in shock for only a second, Syaoran quickly wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer. He felt her hands grip the front of his shirt tightly to keep his as close as possible. He released her lips slowly, but continued to hold he close to his chest.
"Sakura" He breathed out, barely audible over their heavy breathing. He was staring into her eyes again but this time he had no trouble saying it.
"I love you"
She threw her arms around his neck and buried her face into his shoulder. She whispered gently to him.
"I love you too"
He smiled and pulled tightly against him. After several minuets something dawned on him and he release his hold and questioned,
"Why did you ask out Akashi then?"
"You mean the guy with soft brown hair who's good at math and is on the soccer team?"
She smiled at him then lay her head against his chest and replied,
"He reminds me of you."
