"A true betrayer is motivated by selfishness."

Of at least that what they say…but is that the only reason she stabbed her back and twisted the knife till there was nothing left?

Massie Block didn't think so as her amber eyes glared into Claire's bright blue ones. There was no feeling there after what she had done…no sisterhood…and no friendship. What she had done would stay with her forever, until the day they both disappeared into nothingness…the very day the both of them ceased to exist.

"You deserved it." She whispered, trembling, knowing the words were untrue. Deserved this? No. She didn't deserve this, Claire…and even if she did…it wasn't your punishment to give. Massie's eyes flashed defensively, chafed by Claire's innocently put words as if she had done nothing to tear her whole world apart. As if she hadn't stolen her friends from her, humiliated her in front of the whole school, and stole her boyfriend of three years, the very one who was going to propose to her their senior year…as if she had forgotten all about it…

Massie smiled viciously her dark brown hair falling over her shoulder.

Betrayal is the only truth that sticks…from you." She said coldly. The icy tone of her voice was impossible to ignore as she handed Claire a plastic bag with a knife inside. "Here's your knife back, just in case you ever wanted to use it again." Claire blinked back tears and gripped the bag.

"You'll never know how sorry I am," The girl sobbed, sniffling for dramatic effect. Massie ran her hands over her silky hair, and nodded in agreement.

"You're right, Claire…I'll never know." Smiling once more, Massie left…

Because in the eyes of the weak, forgiveness is key…

but in the eyes of a fighter…leaving what you once cared for behind (or in Massie and Claire's case, what you once dominated and controlled) is what matters most in the face of betrayal

And that's why she walked away…and never looked back…
