Background:
Nelana the Kitsune is ten. Atashski-Cloud the Kitsune is eighteen. Spirit-Strider the Echidna is eighteen. Kael the Echidna is fifteen.
This happens right after the ARK saga. Shadow is alive.

Setting: Ophanage in San Francisco. The sign says, "Nana's Ophanage. All Species".

ATASHSKI-CLOUD: The energy is coming from here... I wonder if it is coming from one of the children?
[Atashski-Cloud enters the ophanage and looks around. He spots a young kitsune child with two tails and walks over to her.]
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: Hello there little one. My name is Atashski-Cloud.
CHILD: Hiya, Atash!
[Atashski-Cloud smiles. He notices a silver ring with a green gem on the child's left hand]
ATASHSKI-CLOUD{thinking to himself}: The Chaos energy is coming from that gem... I wonder where the girl got it.
ATASHSKI-CLOUD{to the child}: That sure is a pretty ring you have there. Where did you get it?
CHILD: Auntie Nana's finding it in mine basket when I was left on Nana's doorstep. Nana says mine parents gives it to me cause theys loving me but theys can't be caring for me cause theys is poor.
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: I see. How long ago was that?
WOMAN: I found her on my doorstep ten years ago, as a baby. I've raised her as my own.
[Atashski-Cloud turns and sees a middle-aged female hedgehog walking towards him]
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: Are you Nana?
WOMAN: I am Natilie. Nana is what the children call me.
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: I see. My name is Atashski-Cloud. Nice to meet you, Miss Natilie.
NATILIE: And you, Mister Atashski-Cloud.
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: What is her name?
NATILIE: I named her Nelana. It was my great-grandmother's name.
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: That's sweet of you. I would like to adopt Nelana, that is if you don't want to keep her.
NATILIE: I love Nelana very much, but I can not care for her properly here. It would gladen my heart to know she was with someone who could take care of her better than I.
NELANA: I's be missing you greatly, Auntie Nana!
NATILIE{hugs Nelana}: I'll miss you, my little one.
ATASHSKI-CLOUD{picks Nelana up and rocks her gently}: Come on, Nelana. I want you to meet several of my friends.
NELANA: Buh-bai, Auntie Nana!
NATILIE{tearfully}: Good-bye, my sweet little Nelana! Be a good girl now!
[Atashski-Clouds jumps into his Mustang convertible with Nelana]
NELANA: Where's we going, Atash?
ATASHSKI-CLOUD: To Angel Island, Nelana. The home of the echidnas.
