She didn't expected to slip on a banana peel, unfortunately she couldn't avoid it. Aoi felt light headed and hot.
She knew she was falling, however she didn't hit the ground.
"Huh?"
Why do I feel so light?
"That was a close one Aoi," Ginji caught her in his arms.
He was so close that their nose was almost touching. Her heart skipped a beat.
"Thank you for saving me Ginji."
He helped her up and she felt disappointed that they weren't so close anymore.
She blushed when he place his forehead against hers.
"What are you doing?" She asked shyly.
"You're burning up. You have to rest."
"I just need fresh air and I will be fine," she tried to reassure him.
He lifted her off the ground and carried her in his arms.
"I will look after you until you get better Aoi."
"I can walk you know," she protested.
"Stop being stubborn, you're always looking out for me. I want to do the same for you."
She was shocked by his words. It touched her heart that he cared for her.
He carried her into moonflower and went straight to her room. He laid her down on the futon.
Ginji place a damp cloth on her forehead to cool her down.
"It's time for your medicine."
"No, I refuse, it's horrible."
"I know it is, however if you want to get better you have to take it."
"You can't make me."
He poured the medicine in his mouth and transferred it into her mouth. His lips had touched hers.
It was the sweetest kiss ever.
"Why did you do that?" She blushed.
"That was the only way," he said mischievously.
"You're unbelievable," she pouted.
"I have good news Aoi."
"What is it?"
"Your debt had finally been cleared."
"Really? I can't believe it. I'm finally free."
"It's all because of your hard work at moonflower."
"It's been a year since I've met you hasn't it?" She asked.
"Yes."
"Are you going back to your world?"
"No."
"I'm glad, I love you Aoi."
She was overjoyed to hear him say that. She reached for his hand and squeezed it.
"I understand that you don't feel the same."
"I love you too Ginji."
"You do? I'm so happy."
They looked at each other lovingly.
"Can you hold me until I fall asleep?" She asked.
"Sure, anything for you."
He held her until she fell asleep. He caressed her cheek and kissed her temple. That night, he too fell into a deep slumber.
