With Manic Panic Pink hair that needs to be redyed soon and duct tape lining the inner heels of a beloved pair of Mary Janes, Sakura runs and laughs and runs and swerves around fellow pedestrians that flash by her in a streaming blur of colors. She knows how she wound up here in the toobrighttoobigtooartifical subway station (exit the club she and her fag-to-her-hag best friend landed in for the night, turn right, turn left at the light and walk for a block) but all that concerns her—and all that she'll remember later—is the chase. Run—run—run—follow the bobbing red and black shape just a few yards ahead. Follow her.

And Sakura runs. She runs and she swerves and she curses herself for wearing a silly checkerboard bra instead of that lacy one she bought three days prior. Then she curses herself for being so presumptuous: talk about getting ahead of herself. And then she sees her throw an over-the-shoulder glancesmirkentracement and Sakura knows she wasn't wrong: she has been invited to a pulsing world of even as the two find themselves in a lonelier hall of the station—their rushed gasps a shock to the quiet halls.
Down—down the other goes; down an escalator—down she flies. Alarmed that her target has fallen out of sight, Sakura gathers herself and pushes her legs forward but in the end it's an unnecessary excretion because there, halfway down climbing up the down escalator is a redhead by nature. The deep red cut into sharp layers upon sharp layers cascading down her back and her relatively flat chest, the girl—Just call me Karin—dresses like danger in her plaid skinnys and nothing but a tight waistcoat on her torso. For all Sakura knows the strangernotstranger is danger but she doesn't turn away because Karin didn't turn away when their eyes first met and that's all Sakura needs to know.
